@ archiethesailor, as far as I'm concerned, it's all canon. They've simply split the timeline. There's movie canon, and general universe canon. The stories (comics, games, and shows) are too great to be simply written off. The Old Republic stories and the Nee Republic stories especially. Jacen and Jaina Solo, Malak and Revan, Naga Sadow and Freedon Nadd and the other ancient Sith: all great characters. To write them all off is almost criminal.

@ archiethesailor, yeah. There's no need to discount or invalidate already set events. I mean, it's all fiction anyway. Just slap a "Universe A" or "Universe B" on it. In Universe A, Han Solo and Leia Organa have three children. Anakin and the twins Jaina and Jacen. In Universe B, they have one son. It's such a simple explanation, I don't know why they don't already use it.
