"TV license". And they wonder why we make fun of them 🦅🇺🇸
@tampon theif, if Americans had to have a tv license we'd start throwing the cable boxes into the fvcking harbor
@tampon theif, in fairness because of the tv license there is no adverts at all on any bbc chanels
@bonja, And it pays for Dr Who.
@bonja, and it's some high quality programming.
@bonja, This is my first time hearing about this, what you're telling me is that Brits have to basically pay a subscription to the government to watch TV?
@TriangleTesticles, yup, £12 a month
@TriangleTesticles, it's not a bad deal
No ads and
Top gear (for a while)
Every other BBC production
We still have to pay to get other tv channels as well, except this is top quality content ad free
@tampon theif, Yeah, it's even sillier now that so much programming can be watched online. There's a lot of talk about scrapping it due to recent technology but it won't happen for another 5-10 years or so I'd wager.
@Pangbot, you still need a tv licence to watch things online
@add eggs then stir, let's be real, okay, it's not always top quality content.
There's also dodgy dealings going on behind the scene. Nonces and the like.
But when the money goes to David Attenborough and his nature shows it's good money spent.
And with Netflix basically stepping in, as well as amazon, people are thinking about just not paying it ( it ain't enforceable) and watching stuff they want online.
It was a great, innovative, and produced educational and astonishing television... but now the BBC producers are lazy, a tad biased, and scared to do anything daring. It had its time.
@add eggs then stir, Don't forget all the radio stations it covers too - and those are much better value for money since they canned Chris Moyles!
@bonja, yeah there is, between programmes. Just no ad breaks during programmes
@Tis but a scratch, aye but the adverts only promote other bbc shows and last like 1/5th if the time... well atleast in the uk
@TriangleTesticles, Well, sorta. You only have to pay for TV license if you watch the 5 main U.K. Channels. It's also pays for things like Planet Earth! Plus we can watch an entire movie on tv without an ad break. They also don't hover over with annoying ads while you're watching something. You also DONT have to pay it. The uk is awesome 🇬🇧
Person: "what is your reaction to this?"
Person: *cocks shotgun*
Big Black Cock??
I also thank goodness for the BBC.
Makes me wonder why the person didn't just click to see the original tweet, but included the hilarious comment by this account.
Just like shjt*** or fvck****
