I do this every time. My favorite was when two people said, in front of me,"this guy doesn't know anything." And I replied (in Spanish) "I know more than you think I do"
@A Studly Muffin, me to, I speak 4 languages and it is true: knowing languages is the true power!
@A Studly Muffin, I do the same thing except in German. The Hutterites are always baffled.
@A Studly Muffin,
As a Mexican that looks totally white I can relate. The best part is when they start talking shjt about me in Spanish and I respond , the look on their faces is always priceless
@Eltrompetista, i feel you bro
@Eltrompetista, some people from the states came to Puerto Rico at the restaurant where I work (I'm puertorrican) and asked my colleague if he talked English and he didn't and started saying some racist stuff (on English) and I was like "uhumm, excuse me, yeah, I can understand you" the got out of the restaurant, that made my day.
@Eltrompetista, I used to be a teaching assistant at a primarily Hispanic school. As a red head with pale skin and blue eyes, the children assumed I couldn't speak Spanish and would talk smack about the "dumb" new teacher. I'm not fluent, but I know Spanish well enough to understand everything they were saying. It was so much fun :)
Everytime! ...oh wait no I speak Elven, not Spanish... don't get to use that one as often.
@devalation, same! Except I don't speak Spanish soooo I don't know what they're saying
@devalation, Êl síla erin lû e-govaned vîn.
I learned Spanish so I could listen to all the people around me talking shjt about me in Spanish. Turns out nobody cares about me and no one has ever talked about me and I was just being paranoid.
Actually as a Latino and Spanish speaker myself, most spanish speakers don't trash talk people in Spanish in front of people like the Asians do. Mostly for that reason and a cultural reason. If we are gonna speak insults about people we say it to their face no fear lol not in Spanish discreetly so they can't understand us
@JC839, tienes razón... Estos gringos tontos no entienden nada.
@JC839, I totally agree with this, I went to a really multicured school where Filipinos were the majority, then Spanish, and Canadians were the minority, and the Filipinos shjt talked an absurd amount that I lost respect for them as a whole, where the Spanish kids were polite and friendly
Me no hablar espanol
@Your Darkest Secret, so sorry for this.. Hablo
@pyrimix, yo puedo hablar espanol nada mas estaba bromeando... It was the joke
@pyrimix, just, no hablo espanol... I actually do speak Spanish... I lied about the Elven 0.O
@devalation, lo siento
Recently a new building was going up next to my place of business. I walked outside and saw a bunch of beer cans, trash, construction junk littered all on my property next to the building. I approached the guys and said in English to pick it up, the one goes "no speaki English" I looked at each one of them in the eyes (6 of them) and repeated myself in Spanish. They walked right over and picked it up. I'm white.
At the beginning of summer i turned 16 and began to apprentice with a latino mechanic and my boss and the mechanic didnt know i understand a bunch of spanish and anyway it was just a cool experience listening in on what they said
Because they're talking about you every time
