Fun fact: not only is milk NOT beneficial to the strengthening of bones, nor does the consumption of milk prevent or slow the onset of osteoporosis in any way, but it is actually harmful to the system because of the hormones in it.
Also fun fact: that shït's delicious, yo.
@I Are Lebo, so what exactly are the negative effects of these hormones? I personally love milk. So much so I drink roughly 2 gallons a week by myself and have done so for about the past 10-15 years. And I don't see any negative effects, and like to think that I am a fairly normal working and functioning member of society.
@snailking19, do some research. There's a LOT of negative long term side effects from milk consumption.
One of those is an increase in the likelihood of cancer. Consumption of milk products by a breast cancer survivor increases the chances of relapse by as much as 43%.
I'd suggest you do your own research to back this up rather than depending on the word of a stranger over the internet, but our media has been filled with lies regarding the benefits of milk for decades, because it supports a very large industry.
@I Are Lebo, You watched that vegan documentary didn't you?
@BigfootUnibrowMan, heh. What The Health, right?
My whole family went vegan. I gave it a serious try, but it didn't really do anything for me. But my lactose intolerance recently progressed to a mild dairy allergy, which while it sucks, my health HAS gotten better since I stopped consuming dairy.
@I Are Lebo, Veganism has been linked to pretty serious health defects as well so that's probably good you didn't stick with it
@I Are Lebo, the lactose in milk feeds the lactobacilli and bifidobacterium in our guts which is extremely beneficial for our health. Problem is that today we don't consume as much fermented milk product, which supplies our guts with those bacteria, and we take antibiotics, which kill those bacteria. If someone with a healthy gut consumes milk it will be beneficial. If someone with a bad gut consumes milk it will be harmful.
Also youre right... that shjt is delicious.
@I Are Lebo, So if I like milk and I’m suicidal, best case scenario?
@I Are Lebo, I’m here for a good time not a long time
@TR8R, I am suspicious of both sides claims, regarding negative health effects. However, the dangers of consuming meat are quite clear, especially with how processed most sources of meat are.
The dangers specifically posed by veganism are twofold. Firstly, vegan is not synonymous with healthy. Plenty of vegan dishes have an unhealthy amount of sugar or salt or preservatives, same as many non vegan food items. Also, many vegans do not have a balanced diet that provides enough protein or other essential vitamins. This is indicative of an unbalanced diet, not simply because it's a vegan diet.
Both sides of this issue tend to demonize their opponents. The meat and dairy industry paints vegans as dumbass hippies and vegans present the meat industry as mass slaughtering environmentally destroying soulless conglomerates.
The problem is, I think both sides are right. Stupid douchebag hipsters are annoying, but the meat industry is doing measurable damage to our species and our planet.
@A Little Stitious, let's have a good time. The sun can't shine every day.
@Bowie Stars, not really. I don't think drinking milk can kill you unless you choke on it.
@I Are Lebo, the benefits of a responsible meat diet are quite clear as well. I never eat processed meat and it has measurably improved my lifestyle since I made that change
@TR8R, the problem isn't the meat itself. The problem is that a lot of places put some very harmful shït in the meat, mostly for the cause of profits (Google 'meat glue' 🤢). In addition, most people eat way too much meat.
All things in moderation.
@snailking19, I too slug gallons weekly, if I die I die happy and with an exquisite milk mustache
@I Are Lebo, again, that's why I never eat processed meat
@TR8R, the problem is, a lot of places used processed meat while claiming or implying that they don't. There's a lot of substandard meat that gets passed off as high quality. It's a really big problem, and it's a problem that exists because cutting those corners are the only way many farmers can make their quotas. The demand for meat is so astronomical in the western world it's ridiculous.
The quality of meat wouldn't be nearly this much of an issue if people didn't have it put in their heads that they are supposed to have meat with every meal. Very large portions of meat, too.
As delicious as it is, and as enjoyable to consume as it is, a 60 ounce steak is not a healthy meal for a single man to consume.
The reason heart disease kills as many people as it does isn't because of obesity, it's because the fat from meat builds up in our arteries, not on our bellies.
@I Are Lebo, all that's true. But doesn't really matter to me. When you prepare your own meat you don't need to worry about that nonsense. And nobody rational thinks it's okay to eat 60 oz of meat in a single sitting. That's insanity
@TR8R, I meant that there are butchers who use a sometimes toxic powder to glue together pieces of meat into larger cuts that are indistinguishable from the real thing.
Not only is the powder toxic in gas form, but if the meat is cooked rare, the inside doesn't cook properly and you become susceptible to salmonella poisoning. Ingesting large amounts of the 'food glue' is also hazardous.
@I Are Lebo, which is why I prepare my own meat mate.
@TR8R, where do you get your meat from?
@I Are Lebo, “hohohohoooooo”
@I Are Lebo, if only everyone knew brook from One Piece like I do... heheh
@Sloth5050, haven't watched a single episode, sorry.
@I Are Lebo, dingo dango...
@Sloth5050, wubba lubba dub dub!
@I Are Lebo, dooblabadoo adabbadablop
@Sloth5050, yabba dabba doo!
@I Are Lebo, my Uncle who gets it right from his own cows and pigs. Sometimes I'll help slaughter the animals and prepare the meat cuts. So the meat I get is about as fresh as it can possibly be
@TR8R, interesting. And how often do you consume meat?
@I Are Lebo, whenever i get a craving for it
@TR8R, and how frequently is that, may I ask?
@I Are Lebo, you're not my doctor lol 😆 I eat meat when I please and am perfectly healthy. In fact since I moved to the country and started eating fresher meat more often my health has improved markedly
@TR8R, I was just curious about frequency, dude. Like every day, multiple times a day, whatever. I was going to use that information to compare to myself and my own meat consumption.
@I Are Lebo, probably not daily unless it's been a busy week. In average I'd say 4-5 times a week I have some sort of red meat
@TR8R, interesting. That's more than me, but most of my meat intake is processed, so it's better I keep it down.
I hate cooking, and my family is vegan, so I don't generally do home cooked meat meals.
@I Are Lebo, I love to cook so that really helps. Making your own meals allows you to maximize potions while minimizing the bad stuff. Win win
3 spoopy 5 you
i believe the bottom right skeleton pixel is from Scooby Doo meets the Boo Brothers, if anyone cares...
@mrstirfry99, it should be Brook from one piece tho, but no one cares...
It’s good for your bones
Milk is gross
@benderama, edward, is that you?
@benderama, dammit, Fullmetal! You'll be a short beansprout for the rest of your life if you don't drink your milk!
@Danger Noodle, I can’t drink milk, it makes me sick
You've made him gone 2spoopy69me!
