The system works fellas.
@ThePandaPool , "it just works"
When I finish Med school my debt will be pretty comparable. Our minimum payments are supposed to be over two grand a month to avoid this very issue. Needless to say, residency will be rough.
What are you doing residency for? Radiology? Surgeon?
@timofborg, hopefully neurology
@RMB, does the Hippocratic oath apply to ifunny users?
@OnlyUtahKidOnFp, actually no, we are allowed to refuse care to them
@RMB, good, that’s what I was hoping for.
It’s super depressing how common this is. We should probably do something about it but whatever, I’m sure it’ll all turn out great
@open name, well it would require colleges to not charge so much. I think people should pay for university. It's an investment in their future, and the last 12 years of school were free. But it should not cost over $100,000 just to get a BS/BA
@Salem, wife graduated with a BS. Best job she could find in her field paid $10/hr. 😐 She got a job in a different field and didn't require a degree and gets paid a lot more.
@SWAT the fireman, that sucks. I got a two year degree that cost like $6k and I make almost $30/hr. What field is she in?
@CrazyRightWinger, damn. She degreed in psychology. She ended up getting a job as a development manager for a non-profit organization.
What do you do?
@SWAT the fireman, IT at a hospital, hopefully moving to network engineer next year and make a little more. Funny thing is I made like $18/hr for ten years before I got motivated and realized I was worth something. You have to push yourself and don't be scared to move on.
@CrazyRightWinger, nice. Yea I'm doing alright myself. I'm a paramedic/ fire fighter. It doesn't pay a lot, but I love it, and that's worth more than money, so I'm happy. I also have a part time job as a paramedic. Funny thing is I make $25/ hr part time, which is a lot more than the full time if you break it up into hourly wage. I won't get rich doing this, but i love it. Also, i have an associate's degree, but it not required. Some people just have a high school degree and do the same thing.
@SWAT the fireman, where do you work
@wannabe firefighter, Yorktown, Virginia.
@SWAT the fireman, ever think about working in a bigger city?
@wannabe firefighter, yea. I live in Virginia beach, Virginia. Norfolk is right next door and it's also a decent size. Or are you talking about a big city like Chicago or Boston?
@wannabe firefighter, also I used to be an EMT for Virginia beach EMS.
@SWAT the fireman, Either one. I live in the San Antonio area and we have people showing up from everywhere to test. And no one actually lives in the city
@open name, right now we are too worried about which sign the door to the shïtter has on it, to accomplish anything relevant.
@open name, Jill stein (the Green Party candidate) had a plan to forgive all student loan debt. It was pretty sound
@griffinstorme, I've heard politicians talk about that. They can only forgive government loans. Any loans taken out from a bank or lender is a private loan and the government cannot wipe that debt clean. The majority of people have private student loan debt versus government debt
That’s why I dropped out of college after the first semester and never looked back
I graduated from law school in the 90s with a dark and rotten soul, but I now have no soul at all.
Y'all need to move to canada where the government pays for like 2/3 of your tuition
@Infertile Turtle, except moving to another country is both expensive and has a multitude of short and long term disadvantages
@Infertile Turtle, I moved from the us to New Zealand my second year of college, pay international fees, live in a big city and it’s still cheaper here.
Lol, I became a mechanic and started a shop and towing company, and now I make about that a year as my personal salary! College... hahahahahahaha! Hell I was a C student at best in high school....
@Craiger, I'm glad everything has worked out for you, but don't diss people for going to college. We need people of all skills. Not everyone can be a doctor or lawyer, just like not everyone can be a mechanic or plumber. All skills are important. The system just needs to change.
