@Just a doctor , Depressing? Wouldn't it be worse if they either refused condoms or knew nothing about them, but had sex anyway? Say what you will about teens having intercourse, but I'd rather they do it safely than do it without realizing the potential consequences (STDs, pregnancy, etc.). If anything, I'm more worried that the gay guy thinks he doesn't need to use a condom (even without the issue of pregnancy, diseases can still be transmitted). That just demonstrates why teaching safe sex is needed.

@fetus meatus, it's been proven time and time again that teaching abstinence causes higher rates of STDs and pregnancy. There's nothing shameful about sex or sex education and it needs to be taught in schools, as it is also probably a good idea to give away condoms in schools for teens who will do whatever they want anyway.
Why would they need to hand them out? Shouldn't the boys have grown them by now?
