Subtitles are great, sometimes there’s just too much noise going on in the movie/show that it’s hard to figure out what someone said. This is especially true with movies with lots of action ie most movie blockbusters.
@Lord Booty The Third, just not always on, they’re too distracting to leave on all the time.
@Lord Booty The Third, its really aggrivating that the music and effect sounds are so overwhelmingly loud while voice is at a whisper...gotta play magical chairs with the volume button...
@Lord Booty The Third, I play games while watching TV. Subtitles help a lot with doing both things successfully. Lmao!
@Lord Booty The Third, helps when characters have foreign accents too. Sometimes the dialogue is clear but I still don’t understand them.
If subtitles are on, I can't help but read them, even if I can hear the dialogue completely fine.
@SWAT the fireman, That's my problem too. I have no problem reading them fast enough, but if I wanted to read I would've picked up a book instead of turning on a movie.
@DecoJake, reading the subtitles is like reading a book but with sound and visual effects
@MMSieBreeze, But one of the best things about reading a book is making those effects in my head.
I'm a weeb, so all the anime I watch has subtitles. I don't mind them.
I like them on everything except for comedians. They ruin the joke at times.
I honestly don’t mind having subtitles on, but I can’t stand how sometimes they are so big you spend the whole time watching them and not the actors.
@Dan Dan the fireman , shows I don’t care for subtitles, but video games are an absolute must.
@MetalHeadTony, I hate when games have opening scenes before you have the chance to turn subtitles on. I always want to pause to turn them on immediately but also that might just skip the cutscene. Or there is no option to after you take the risk.
I had subtitles with the witch on Netflix. Too many towns, names and crap to remember. And even then I'm still lost.
@hasher2288, a hint....they have 3 different timelines going at the same time
@mycatsanahole, it would be nice if they made it clear in the beginning they were splitting the timelines up. I’m fine with it, just had a moment where I was thinking the show runners were incompetent (kinda like GoT)
I didn’t come here to read TV with you
I only watch with subtitles when I'm with people who talk over the TV
A friend of mine didn't like subtitles.
He finally admitted, after several Netflix nights, that he couldn't read fast.
@Waithuh, I don’t like them because I cannot ignore them.
@Hot Coffee, I can't either but I can't hear the greatest and don't want the TV loud as a courtesy to my roommate
@Waithuh, that’s a good use of cc
Hahahahahahahahaha except this isn't funny
@Fvs7, it happened to me.
Sometimes find myself reading subs when I don’t need to but I watch movies from other countries too so I’ve figured out how to back and forth pretty effectively. Effective enough that I’m willing to support the push for subtitles on regular movies in the thearters to make sure deaf people aren’t left out. I’m also fine leaving them out... I try to be a nice guy, doesn’t make me a saint. Just saying it doesn’t take anything from me so I’m fine if they’re added.
@Canis Arktos, making it an option is cool, not every showing would need to be subtitled, just be clear which showing is which and I think it would be well received.
You got me tricked up if you dont put subtitles on. I cannot watch it if it dosent have subtitles. Then again I can read quite swiftly
I will run subtitles on videogames. That’s it. Even if it’s game chatter.
Hayyyyy no fair
like with the great british baking show it says who gets voted off before they even say the name i don’t like the suspense ruined
Subtitles should only be on screen so I can understand what the other languages are saying, and then disappear for the English.
