I think that would definitely apply to both parties. Liberals and conservatives are both a mess rn
@Magickarp, everyone sucks. That's my motto.
@Magickarp, There's always the libertarians! They're like the nerds of the political world. No one knows what they're talking about, they smell funny (weed), and you need to keep a few around for those hard projects.
@PoliticalOtters, libertarians are also pretty close-minded right now.
@A Math Dealer, life sucks, drop out. That's my go to saying.
@Sir LancesALot, are they? I have not experienced that, except for an-caps and anarchists are almost always assholes
@PoliticalOtters, basically both sides are flinging dirt at the other side and claiming that only the other side does it, both parties seem to be in the mindset of "it has to be MY way" and won't work together or compromise, and both side acts like the other side is causing the massive rift in the country when in reality they're both to blame for it
@Magickarp, but left and right libertarians get along pretty well, as was his point.
@ReeseBobby, to me the "left" and the "right" apply to the far side of their prospective sides. Because all the people who dont fall into the "far" side seem to be able to get along and fall into the category that i like to call "human beings"
@Guy Fawkes, I can get behind that. Honestly I think a lot of people are close to giving up on the left/right fallacy.
@Magickarp, at least the liberals still have a foothold in reality. Conservatives have resorted to shouting "FAKE NEWS" when presented with evidence that conflicts with their world view, or really any news that's bad for their "team."
@Fac3pa1m, haha, thanks for the laugh
@Magickarp, as far as US politics, I agree with you as a generality, but right now conservatives have all the power and are not sure what to do with it. I suspect that, if liberals had all the power they would only do slightly better.
@Ewok612, it's definitely easier to be in the opposition, so you could very easily be right.
@Fac3pa1m, if you're making massive generalizations like that about the people you disagree with, you should probably reevaluate your own 'foothold in reality'.
@ReeseBobby, the head of America's largest conservative political party cries FAKE NEWS in his sleep, and a recent poll shows that a majority of self identified Republicans consider the media "the enemy of the people." But that's cool. Just tell me I don't see what I see.
@Fac3pa1m, you're ignoring that a lot of the media is bs.
@Oujosh29, so how do you figure out what's true and what's not?
@Fac3pa1m, news is by and large over exaggerated, falsified, inaccurate, and slanted. Not all of it, just all of it.
@PsychedelicCow, if it goes against your narrative, it's fake. If it confirms your biases, it's real.
@ImNotRacistBut, that kind of thinking makes it easy to believe what you want to be true. "If all news is over exaggerated, falsified, inaccurate, and slanted, that means The Washington Post and FreedomEagle.com are the same! I guess I might as well believe FreedomEagle.com because I like what they're saying."
@Fac3pa1m, lol, that seems to be the way things are going nowadays, but if things are going that direction, you won't be able to trust anything, and then you have no basis to stand on.
@PsychedelicCow, it's unfortunate that's what you choose to see.
@PsychedelicCow, you cant ever know for sure, but best attempt is getting news from multiple sources. I've noticed that the media live in their own world and are delusional. Especially with Trump, but the media sucked before him too
@Fac3pa1m, are you aware that places outside of your country exist?
@Fac3pa1m, honestly, yeah. I listen to both side’s news and I end up facepalming most of the time.
Even more true: sometimes problems aren't your fault but you're still the only one who can fix them.
@ReeseBobby, sometimes your problems are my fault and you have to fix them.
Being in the middle is boring. No big bad enemy to hate, because everyone is a douche.
But seriously, wtf is a liberal? I still don't know.
@freakazoid, I recently listened to a great video that differentiated "liberals" from the "hard left", and I think that's a good way of separating the extremes. I personally identify as a liberal, but there are plenty of people that call themselves that, that go too far on some issues.
Basically, liberals are on the left of the political spectrum; generally vote democrat but not always, are for equal rights, women's rights, lgbt rights, gun control, pro-choice, separation of church and state, etc. to name a few. Some also are for universal healthcare, minimum wage increase...but not all.
@ A Sad Blow Job, so....from what you descibed i would like in this world, equality(period),and fairness..
In everything. Would i be considered a liberal? Even i dont give a crap about churches or government???
@freakazoid, equality/fairness in "everything" is a little too vague, so err...I don't know? I never said anything similar to liberals wanting equality in all realms of life, I said "equal rights". Nor did I say anything about "not giving a crap about churches or government".
@ A Sad Blow Job, i know you didnt say that, but that's what i think would be nice, but i know thats too much to ask, and a fantasy.
@freakazoid, Basically classic liberals tend to be individualist in nature when it comes to their values. All people should be equal under the law, individual freedoms must be upheld, ETC. the difference between a liberal and a Leftist(someone who’s far left) is that Leftists are collectivist in nature. They don’t see individual freedoms, they see community freedoms. They’re typically socialist and in more extreme cases communist. Liberals inherently oppose things like communism or community rights as that goes against the ideals of individualism. Liberals see government as a shield to protect rights and freedoms, leftists see government as a sword to strike at those who oppose the groupthink.
