I always looked at that scene as the unlikeliest set of circumstances in that entire show. The odds of her accidentally slicing that one specific iceberg, considering they were only there by accident from getting lost, and that she did so by losing control of her powers, are astronomically small. If any one of those events hadn't happened, Aang wouldn't have been freed.

@We dont say his name, Actually, the chances of Zuko being there were pretty high. They knew that if the Avatar died in hiding (since they didn't know he was in stasis, they understandably assumed he would be a hundred years old), the next avatar would be born into the water tribe. The Fire Nation didn't have the resources to spare to harass both water tribes, so they went after the one less defendable. But since the job of patrolling the frozen north was a crappy posting, it was delegated to a banished prince. He is skillful, but shamed. He was pretty much perfect for the job. Obviously he still wasn't good enough, but everyone thought his target would be either an infirm old man or a toddler.
