Goddamn you, Now I want to read lord of the rings again
@TheCoolestBean, and chronicles of narnia
@speedway guy, I really want a movie adaptation of The Magician's Nephew
@TheCoolestBean, do it
@TR8R, the book I have is all three of em but it’s falling apart from age and use, so I’m very afraid to use it
@Davrial, perfect way to 'reboot' the IP
These gay ass authors were totally flirting. The sluts
@Murderous Milkman, Seemingly solo Authors in the past have had a pattern of referencing or working with each other on occasion. Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman worked together after years of hanging out to write Good Omens. Sometimes it even went into film. If I’m remembering right Arthur C Clarke and Stanley Kubrick both spoke while making 2001, desiring to basically take the idea and make their own interpretations of it.
@Murderous Milkman, they were actually close friends who knew each other before they wrote their books.
Also, Tolkien was upset that Lewis wrote 7 books in 7 years while it took him 12 years to write the Lord of the Rings.
Super eff'd that Disney is removing all references to JRR Tolkien's Christian faith in the upcoming TV show about him. Like a guy who went to Mass EVERY DAY and based so much of his writing on his Christian faith that even CS Lewis will put him in his books, and they're removing any reference that he was a man of faith in his biography. Like Netflix made Daredevil more Christian then they're going to make JRR Tolkien. Like I don't even get how? Are they going to make up that he was just into fantasy or something and had a great idea for a few books? The Tolkien estate has disavowed the upcoming TV show, and I think that's really a shame. I think we can all agree accurate portrayals and the truth is always more enjoyable to watch then watered down propaganda. Could you imagine watching documentaries on the history channel where they take out all the controversial parts? Like imagine if they don't even show Nazis anymore, just elude that there were differences of opinion back then xD.
@Egotiator, what do you mean they don’t show Nazis. Who is “they”? Because I’ve seen plenty of recent media that doesn’t cut out Naziism
@TR8R, no, I mean imagine if future documentaries or period pieces about the war took out all references to Nazis. It would be ridiculous and feel fake. I've edited my previous post to remove the misunderstanding.
@Egotiator, ah okay I understand you. Yeah that would be extremely unfortunate. I agree that the show sounds very disappointing so far
Hmm...sounds like orc mischief to me.
I also had a magical wardrobe, upstairs. But instead of Narnia, it was just a place my uncle never looked.
