If I'm thinking of the same thing, they help prevent cars from running into the store front.

@Kolarbear, I thought that too, but the orbs at the target near my house are way to spaced apart. A semi could drive between them.
@Yukimura, you could say that it's a big Target for a semi to hit...
@Yukimura, ...sideways.
@SWAT, that's only for webcams.
@Kolarbear, according to the target website it is to prevent cars from driving up on the sidewalk. (more so to prevent people from blocking the door while waiting to pick someone up than driving through the door.)
@Kolarbear, maybe Target just wanted some balls?
@GiftedFlatulence, wanna little pizza with that cheese?
They are secretly robot orbs (like the big one from the incredibles) and they will come to life and force us to... Buy produce.
@Yoosdude, frozone=frozen food, aisle 7?
They're for kicking because, "Ooh a ball!" And then breaking your foot because they are made of concrete.

I like big (red concrete) balls and I cannot lie.
The red balls are there so people don't drive onto the curb.
I still don't know the purpose but did y'all know each one weighs two tons
Ha, fools soon will you know the true purpose of the orbs...soon.
Oh my god! You can't just ask Target why they have big red balls!
My target doesn't have any orbs :(
I am more startled by the amount of open checkout lanes.
They're the center of the target
It's like the black cubes from Doctor Who. They'll activate when we stop noticing them.
They're probably for landing yo mamma , but seriously I'm English wtf is target?
@Yollom, a more classy Walmart
Well clearly the orbs are part of their plan to take over the world
@Kolarbear, you are right though they are used to protect the store and act as a deterrent for those thinking about it.
