Typically investigations into a certain police force are conducted by a higher up agency that is unaffiliated with said police force. But whatever, continue hating on the people who protect our nation at the cost of their own lives ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@PKitty, you are spot on.
@PKitty, a higher agency governed by the same Union.
@IAmIcarus, Or, you know, governed by a police hating, politically motivated fear monger who had to begrudgingly admit to not finding wrongdoing. Nobodys perfect, but the idea that as soon as police put on their uniform they become 100% racist bigots is just stupid and wrong.
@ Strider2k, of course it is, if they're racist bigots they're also racist bigots while they don't wear their uniforms too.
@PKitty, clearly they aren't doing their jobs properly.
@IAmIcarus, yet most of the racist bigots aren't in uniforms, but are protesting against them. :|
@PKitty, PREACH IT KITTY.
@PKitty, and yet no one gets punished.
@ThatsMajestic, exactly. Everyone keeps saying there's a few bad apples, but always leave off the second part. A few bad apples spoil the bunch.
@PKitty, "People who protect our nation at the cost of their lives." You mean military? okay okay, there are checks and balances of power in the US gov. Are they perfect? Not at all. Are police necessary? Unfortunately. But let's not make these people out to be some noble war heroes. Being a cop is not that dangerous at all. They are public servants out of necessity. That's as far as my respect goes. I'm polite to them as I am to the cashier at the grocery store. Btw, here are a few jobs that are a bit more dangerous than being cop: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jacquelynsmith/2013/08/22/americas-10-deadliest-jobs-2/
@TrouserSnake, so you're absolutely disregarding the over 1500 police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in the past 10 years? Don't get me wrong, a thousand honors and credits to our military service members. But how can you respond to the deaths of so many protecting our nation internally with "ehh, here's a website of more dangerous jobs"?
@PKitty, because thousands of dead garbage men make me sadder. Where would we be without those glowing orange vests, rumbling by in there propane powered trucks, taking my first world refuse hither and yon? On the other hand the only thing a cop has ever done was fine me $240 for the inspection on a car I didn't even own being out by 3 months.
@PKitty, yes, cops do protect us. But they also constantly abuse their power. In Florida, cops were caught using pictures of black males for target practice. In sure you've heard of the guy whose last words were, "i cant breath" while being strangled by police. Or when they shot that 11 year old for playing with a toy gun as soon as they stepped out of their car. And not to mention the killings of unarmed civilians that I keep hearing about. You're right, not all cops are bad, but those who are don't even get punished. The American justice system is flawed, and if you can't see that, you're blind. We can't let police get away with all of this.
@PKitty, a yes protection from those damn blac- I MEAN HOODIE scum
@Chknsyphilis, I agree with you, but you can't punish the police force of the United States as whole with disdain and mockery because of the actions of less than 1%.
@TrouserSnake, are cops Jesus with a badge? No, far from it. However, you have absolutely no idea what it is to be a cop, the shjt they've seen or had to deal with. And yes, your ignorance struck a chord with me because one of the most influential male figures in my life was a cop and he was killed on the job 3 years ago responding to a domestic violence call. So with all due respect (which is none) fvck you and fvck your trousers.
@PKitty, no listen carefully you little shjt. I'm saying the bad ones need to get punished, yet they always get away with it. I'm not saying we should punish the whole goddamn force.
@PKitty, yes yes yes.
@PKitty, I really do have the same amount of respect for the police, fire, rescue, and EMS as I do the military because they potentially risk their lives to serve there communities. Same as the military but on a smaller level. They do a lot for what they get paid. People whine and complain all the time, but when they are in dire need of assistance, 911 is where they go.
@PKitty, i like this guy. Can we get more of you?
@TrouserSnake, "being a cop is not that dangerous at all." Are you sure? Some cops may have it easier than others, but dont let that misconstrue your view of them. And were you ever a cop? How can you tell it isnt dangerous?
@PKitty, "protect our nation" LMAO!!!! They blindly enforce bad legislation. Stop making them out to be heroes. They chose the profession, they get paid for it (especially after murdering someone. 2 cops were recently awarded $2mil each for shooting an autistic unarmed innocent man). If the good cops were so good they would be out there trying to expose the bad cops instead of treading the thin blue line. Derp derp. You sit comfortably in your house honoring your oppressors who allow you to have just enough to get by and tell you to be thankful for what you do have while they take away your civil liberties under the guise of security from an over seas threat that is their own creation. It really isn't that hard to comprehend, but people like you just want to bury your head in the sand. The Germans did that in the 40's. "I'm not being directly effected so why should I care?" Wake up before a no knock raid wakes you up in the middle of the night.
@Jek Porkins, what are you on?
@Jek Porkins, ok firstly if you're going to make such a ridiculous claim like two cops getting rewarded for gunning down an autistic kid, give some proof. Second. My grandfather was a cop and security guard. Most of my other family was/is military. We/they are not totally blind as to the terrible leadership in our government. If you think law enforcement and military are blind to that then you're a bigger fool than I thought. Third and final. Wether you agree with the orders given to the guys on the ground (who fully believe that they are taking down a bad guy, seeing as all they know is what their told) or not, you can not be so foolish and disrespectful to men and women who put themselves, occasionally in front of a fire arm, so hateful, ungrateful, idiots can sit and bjtch about what they don't like instead of getting up and trying to change it
@IAmIcarus, cops did not fine you. The city/county you live fined you.
@get the led out, you want evidence? I could give pages upon pages of stories about cops getting away with ridiculous things if this app would allow it. Here's one. http://m.startribune.com/local/minneapolis/45485362.html
Yay, another controversial picture!
@John Dillinger, yeah can we stop with these controversial pics please?
Why use a pic of Jerry Dyer of Fresno? I haven't heard of any major accusations against Fresno PD. Why not Fergusen's police chief.
@PoetaFit, I firm Visalia and that was my first thought!! Haha
@PoetaFit, valley people fvck yeah!
@Habitualboomer, im from that ugly town fresno!! Woooo
Good job Stuckpixel allowing pictures that give me some good reading material in the comments!
Something that I really love about this app is that %90 of us take the same standpoint on this, while almost every person at my school takes the standpoint on the police being horrible. Keep being awesome community.
@Radically Irrational, that's because this community is oddly conservative. A lot of cops abuse their power and don't get punished for it. I don't know if you've ever dealt with police, but I've met both kinds. My friends car once broke down and a cop tried to help us with the car, and then drove us back to the city. All while pretending not to notice the bong on the back seat. Another time, we got caught accidentally running a stop sign. The cop walked up to our car with his hand on his weapon while he screamed and berated us. But of course we couldn't say anything back because we were honestly scared he was gonna draw his gun the way he was acting. Some cops are power abusive pricks.
@Radically Irrational, um. Debate is good. Hearing the other side of the argument is good. Disregarding the other side of the argument leads to group polarization and crappy decisions.
@Chknsyphilis, can I point out something? I have no reasons to like or dislike cops. No family or friends even related to cops. I respect them for putting their lives in danger for us to be safe. And people like you, who run red lights, do drugs, and then complain about how the cops are bad really get me angry. You think the cop did the wrong thing by having his hand on his weapon? Let's see you walk up to a potentially dangerous person and not get frightened. And he yelled at you? And all you did was break the law? Oh, poor you for experiencing him doing his job.
@Radically Irrational, doing drugs and running red lights? You mean smoking weed and accidentally running a stop sign because it was like 2am and we didnt see it? How the hell does that make me a potentially dangerous criminal? Cops can do their job without being assholes. As shown by my first example. You need to pull that stick out your ass bud.
@Chknsyphilis, A.) Weed is a drug, and I doubt it was prescription. 2.) Accidentally running a stop sign is still breaking the law. Hmm, you ran a stop sign at two am. You must be a mom taking her kid home from school. You must have a reasonable excuse. A cop isn't an asshole for enforcing the law. You're an asshole for breaking it.
@Chknsyphilis, just a point. Oddly conservative? If that's true, then it may seem odd to school kids...but it's more common to find conservative places than liberal (other than education & media). You may have heard that America is a center-right country? It's called that because roughly 40% are independent, 40% are conservative, and 20% are liberal. You can look up polls: pew research, Quinnipiac, gallop, and Rasmussen do polls on it every year...and those results are pretty steady.
@talmet, well tumblr is American, but that place is so left wing it even pisses me off lol.
@Radically Irrational, if you're one of those guys who thinks that people who smoke weed are criminals, you definitely have a sick way up in your ass. And you wanna know what we were doing out at 2am in an abandoned industrial complex? Practicing Drifting. That's right. Breaking the law. But, we were breaking in a way it wouldn't hurt anyone. Just like smoking weed. Just because I'm breaking minor laws, doesn't make me a bad person.
@Chknsyphilis, tumblr pisses everyone off. I wouldn't be surprised if most people on tumbr, hate tumblr.
@Chknsyphilis, I don't know if you are trying to defend yourself or not at this point. You were breaking the law. I don't care if it was minor or not. You giving shjt to a cop for doing his job after you broke the law seriously pisses me off.
@Radically Irrational, i dont need to defend myself for shjt. A cop doesn't need to flip the fvck out over a blown stop sign in an abandoned area, just like they don't need to shoot someone if they're unarmed, or choke someone to death, or beat someone with nightsticks. All I'm saying is cops can be good or bad, but you'll support them even if they're bad. Which makes no sense to me
@Chknsyphilis, Oh, you have misunderstood me. I do believe there are bad cops out there. What I'm angry about is little shjts like you who break the law and then get upset when police officers get on your ass about it.
@Chknsyphilis, So? That makes all cops dicks? Or just the one whom stopped a car with unknown amount of people in it at 2 A.M. doing god knows what? Maybe he was scared as well. You did say it was an abandoned neighborhood and y'all was probably speeding so he didn't know what to expect and in those situations, it's best to appear bigger and scarier than you actually are to keep the other people from attempting to run or attack. So yes, he was in the right. And also, maybe he was tired? It was 2 A.M.
@Radically Irrational, i once got a speeding ticket, which i deserved. But the cop was joking and laughing with me while he gave it to me. He dealt justice without being a cock. Just like all other cops should.
@Chknsyphilis, Or (just maybe) don't break the fncking law. Ohhhh, the big bad police officer yelled at you after you broke the law? He had every right to. Pull your head out of your own a$$hole and get over yourself. Some people are nice, some aren't. Quit playing the victim cause you broke the law and someone yelled at you for it. Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get the fnck over it.
@Radically Irrational, so you never break the law? Look at you, you noble white knight. I hope you get caught speeding and a cop beats the shjt out of you for it. But oh wait, that will never happen to you because you're a privileged white guy in a nice neighbourhood. Everyone breaks minor laws sometimes and when they do, they don't deserve to almost have a gun almost pulled on them.
@talmet, my brother lives on tumblr and he hates it so I hope that answers your question
@Chknsyphilis, Just a point. You don't know what else was going on. Yeah, maybe the cop was a jerk. But maybe he had a reason to suspect something else...for example maybe a similar car was seen fleeing the scene in a robbery, or the previous night there was an assault at that location, or one of a hundred other reasons why the cop could have suspected the driver of the car to try & run, or attack him. I used to get pulled over all the time when I first started driving, I found out it was because the car I bought cheap was previously owned by a known & somewhat major illegal gun runner.
@talmet, i think that only leaves you one option, you must take the reigns and become the next gun runner
@Chknsyphilis, Just an FYI, no I don't ever break minor laws. No I'm not a "privileged white" person. And fnck you for even bringing race into this. Is that really how bad your argument was? That you had to stoop to that?
@Radically Irrational, race is probably one of the biggest problems regarding this issue. Why do you think you only hear about black people getting killed
@Chknsyphilis, Cause the media loves to play it up
"And not a smigeon of corruption was found ". Sound familiar ?
@HeadlessHampster, that was Obama about the IRS....shortly after that both the former & current IRS commissioner admitted under oath that any group with certain words in their name, or any group that was critical of the US government was
automatically rejected and placed on indefinite hold.
@talmet, I know ....
Please don't look at my phone police officers, it wasn't my fault.
Honestly f*ck BLM for creating so much hate for cops.
I smell something here, and it ain't fish
Just like Putin
