Kids are no dummies
@celtics313131, well, most are these days, but still
@celtics313131, don’t confuse kids with teenagers
@Hot Coffee, I worked at customer support for a bank. Lady repeatedly called in because her card was compromised. She had like 18 replacement cards within the last year. Every time, Roblox magically gets her card number and she blamed us. Not her 10 yr old who plays the game.
Do you like the military, police, and schools?
@btay11, or snow removal, parks, social security?
@btay11, America loves the military, I dont know about the other stuff though
@Zorb, firefighters, teachers, social workers, judicial system?
@btay11, sure. It's the other, dumb pet projects and wasteful spending I don't like.
Project MK Ultra was taxpayer funded, The war in Iraq was taxpayer funded....
@LookOutASni, oh I agree 100%... unfortunately, a country can't exist without taxes. The "taxes is stealing" mantra just bothers me
@LookOutASni, we should all have arguments and discussions on where and how taxes are spent
@btay11 If someone were to rob you and then spend the money they robbed from you on a bunch of dumb sh*t that they claimed was "for your benefit", would that still be considered theft in a court of law?
Taxes ARE ultimately theft. It is a necessary evil, but it is theft.
Remember, we went to war over taxation. That's how this whole country came to be. The founding fathers would spit their wooden teeth out at how much of our income we give to the government today.
What civilized country doesn't tax its citizens?
@btay11, or roads?
@LookOutASni, the U.S. is actually pretty low on the amount of tax imposed on its citizens compared to other countries.... the founding fathers would also crap their pants if they saw a black airline pilot flying through the sky
@btay11, what about military police schools
@Darth Panserbjorne, oooooo good one
@btay11, That's not my point. You aren't listening to me. My point is that the government of the US averages 56 billion dollars of wasted money per year.
The thing we spend the most money on? Social Security. You know, the already-bankrupt pyramid scheme that can't reliably take care of our seniors as it is? Let alone the rest of us when we are old enough.
Imagine you give a friend $10 to run to the grocery store, but they only buy $3 worth of sh*tty, low quality groceries and they spend the rest of the money either on themselves or MLM sh*t. Would you consider that theft? You gave them the money under the understanding they would get you groceries, but that's not what they spent your money on.
Now imagine they came back and ask for $50 to get you groceries, to expand their services, but this time you still get the same $3-worth of groceries and the rest is spent by them on themselves.
Any rational person would consider that lost money to be stolen.
@LookOutASni, you are totally right... I stopped listening
@btay11, "We need to have an argument about wasted money"
"I stopped listening"
@btay11, Militia's are a thing, but sure, a Military is an option the government should actually do.
For police, it's a hit or miss. For some they take 45 Minutes to arrive, so it's not that great, for others they may take a few minutes.
Schools, ha! The schools are crap, and they don't teach kids proper history, and they don't teach kids important adult things, like how to build credit. They also don't teach to think for yourself.
So no, schools aren't good. Firefighters are both government funded, and volunteer/fundraised. It used to be 100% volunteer, and something everyone did.
Teachers, again, crap schools.
Social Workers, no.
Judicial System? Not sure it should be run by the government, haven't really thought of that one before.
Public roads are crap, private are way better.
The government is worse at everything, in comparison to private, or personal counterparts.
@thatoneguymaybe, start your own country then
@LookOutASni, holy sh!t you need some better scenarios if you want to be convincing. All I hear is “the government is stealing from me, wha wha wha” in a whining voice.
@btay11, i read suicidal system and i was like go on.
@btay11, Oh darn, I forgot about that very easy, and totally available option.
It's not like we could just fix this country, and make it work even better. Instead of them wasting our money, and driving up our debt. I love the US, not for the government, not for their over-spending.
I'd rather fix our country, than run from it. It's still the best, even with its problem.
I want to make it it's best. I also want to be able to afford things better, and remove the majority of the theft.
@btay11, *Asks question, gets pissy and tells you to "start your own country" when you respond*
I may be wrong, but you never wanted an answer in the first place, but rather wanted to troll, or just make fun of people?
@thatoneguymaybe, we all operate under the same tax system...be smarter with your money and work hard. The government isn't stopping you from being happy.
@btay11, it comes from ignorance and plain stupidity.
@LookOutASni, we went to war because we wanted to be free. Residents in Britain paid 26 shillings New England paid 1 shilling. This is a false narrative that we have embraced. It was a rallying cry and no more.
@LookOutASni, Alright, how do you propose the government raise money?
@LookOutASni, it's more like rent for using all the things created with them, sure not everything are good things but the majority is.
@Emp4th, Y'all missing the point. I'm NOT saying we shouldn't pay taxes. They are a necessary evil. I am saying that they should only be used for things that ACTUALLY benefit the citizens of the US and that anything that isn't is theft.
It's bad enough they take our money. But you know what, if it is at least for our benefit, that's fine. But so much of it just ISN'T.
@MrLogg, I wouldn't even argue the majority of it is.
Road, bridges, schools, all the stuff people say is good?
Typically run at the state and local levels, and the rate at which you are taxed by the state and county is small miniscule compared to what the federal government takes (and how little they give back)
@LookOutASni, you’re partially correct. America came to be due to taxation without representation. Taxes weren’t the cause, the lack of benefit from taxes was.
The problem is that taxes pay for things they shouldn’t. Road maintenance, fire departments, 911 dispatchers, etc. are all necessary and need funding. The 90% of others hit our money goes to is not. Also the fact that millionaires and government officials pay less in taxes than I do as a working class citizen is a huge problem.
@LookOutASni, I know it's not the same but like things you buy from a store doesn't have that value itself, some of it goes to the owners fancy stuff that doesn't benefit you, the producers stuff that doesn't benefit you. But you get what you need/want by also sponsoring others and their agendas. I'm not saying you are wrong about the whole picture but wouldn't call it theft because it only contributes to the hate against it not a better solution.
@LookOutASni, No they would not, they went to war over an UNFAIR tax because they were not granted any representation in the governmental body that created that tax. Not just because "taxes bad".
@Zorb, I’m removing my comment I’m hella late to this thread
@LookOutASni, I'm curious; What would you consider unnecessary and therefore theft?
@LookOutASni, The American Revolution did not happen because they were being taxed. It happened because they were being unfairly taxed while being denied the right to represent themselves politically. “No taxation without representation”, not “no taxation at all” was the rallying cry.
Taxation is not theft, period, full stop. There are times when taxation goes too far, there are more times when tax money is used wastefully and inefficiently, but the money ultimately never belonged to you. Legal currency is the property of the government the entire time it is in circulation. That’s why it’s a crime to deface money.
@I Are Lebo, I would buy that argument if we weren't also taxed on non-monetary gains, such as property, estate, and gifts.
When I gifted my old car to my sister, I had to pay about $250 in taxes. Why? Cars are not legal tender. Why do I have to pay in legal tender for giving my property to another person? The government does not factor into it.
Also, as to whether it ever belonged to me: why is it a crime when I take money from someone else? Why do THEY press charges on me and not the government? It's the government's money.
-Endless foreign wars
-Foreign aid to other countries that they then use to build weapons
-Ramp-up of the ridiculous war on drugs
-The pyramid scheme that is Social Security
-Like, half of the salaries of people who work in the government...
@LookOutASni, look, I’m not about to debate the validity of various types of taxes, including gift taxes. I’m sure a number of them aren’t really valid and are just excuses to milk the public, but that’s not theft any more than being fined for breaking the law or having to pay bail to get out of jail earlier.
Theft is the unlawful reclamation of property. The money isn’t your property, and it is being taken lawfully.
Calling taxation theft is like calling soldiers at war murderers. It shows a lack of comprehension of terminology as well as a lack of understanding of the topic being discussed.
@I Are Lebo, What happens when I don't pay the tax? What if I don't agree with or consent to what the government does with MY capital?
Also, sorry but war also IS murder. It's justified murder, and sometimes necessary for the greater good. Just like taxes, actually. Which was my entire point initially.
I'm not "misunderstanding terms", I'm just not willing to let people dress language up and call a spade a spade.
@LookOutASni, what happens when you don’t pay tax is the same thing that happens when you don’t pay a fine. You pay the penalties for breaking the law. Your consent is neither required nor considered when it comes to taxes because you have already agreed to the social contract by being a citizen.
The rights that you enjoy are tied to responsibilities. Among them is paying taxes.
The fact that you saw my comparison about war and murder and came to the exact opposite conclusion shows that no, in fact you are misunderstanding the terms. Murder is an unlawful killing. Not all killing is murder. Whether it’s a soldier who shoots back at an attacking invader, a cop who shoots a fleeing suspect, or a drone operator launching bombs at an insurgent village, the killing being sanctioned makes it not murder, regardless of the actual individuals involved. It may be killing but it’s not murder.
You’re the one calling a spade a spoon, here, not me. The specifics matter.
Everyone’s libertarian when it comes to their taxes
@BigJohnson86, except for people who aren’t retarded
Think of it like it's a subscription to america only it's still pay to win and most people spend all their money on making their avatars look pretty.
If you enjoy any of the benefits of living in a society, including any of the following: relative safety, paved roads, public education, firefighting services, police, emergency medical response, libraries, protected borders, homeless and mental health programs, unemployment support, national parks, healthcare (for non Americans), or any form of government at all…..
If you think taxation is theft, you’re a fücking retard. Without taxes, there’s no country.
Fully expected this to be uploaded by Medic245 or whatever his name is
@The Puppet Man, I think it’s 315
@I Are Lebo, I think you're right
Oh, you earned money? Yeah, we’re taking a cut of that. Oh, you bought a car with that money? Yeah, we’re charging you a percentage of that. Oh, you still own that car at the end of the year? Yeah, we’re charging you a percentage of the car’s value for that.
Here in America, we want all the services taxes pay for but we don’t want to pay for it
@JC839, A ridiculously small amount of our taxes actually pays for the services we enjoy.
The rest of it is wasteful pork. Ask anyone who works in the government how much money is wasted per day.
You'll be floored.
They will make a fine libertarian
The same people that say this are the ones that want free college.
