The United States of America aka "the best god-damn country in the world" was literally created by a bunch of farmers with guns. It's in our creation, our constitution, our blood.
dont get me wrong though, I dont believe every person should have a gun, but it shouldnt be damn near selling your soul for a rifle restricted to those whom are civilized, obedient law abiding citizens.
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , “Law abiding citizen” is fancy speak for Obedient Slave.
change my mind
@A Deformed Penis, since when have slaves be allowed to arm themselves and travel freely and own land?
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , best country?
You aren't GREAT Britain.
@InsaneAnimeCleavage, I guess we were Lesser Britain for a bit. Does that count?
@Hot Coffee, since they were freed
@InsaneAnimeCleavage, Great Britain? The cuntry that had to go out and inva- er, colonize other nations because theirs wasn't good enough?
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , my issue with this whole debate is that some think an amazing collection of assault rifles will help to overthrow a corrupt American government. Civilian rifles don’t do much against armored vehicles if I recall correctly.
@Geo1345, I dunno man, if you want short to medium range, a .50 beowulf in an AR config will punch a hole. For long pews, .50 BMG is legal. In most states
@Geo1345, 1st, hardly any Americans own assault rifles, they are highly restricted. 2nd worked fairly well for people in Ireland and Afghanistan, hell even Vietnam was mostly rice farmers.
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , thank you for proving my point!
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , An armed society, is a polite society.
@Geo1345, not to mention even if they did few are trained well enough to handle the average cop let alone a marine
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , what makes america the best country in the world?
@Orlandude, what doesnt make it that way? I mean you're entitled to your opinions just as much as I'm entitled to mine, but I personally believe it to be such. I didnt say it was perfect, far from it. I dont believe any place person or anything can achieve perfection. The people is what makes this country great. Look at the vast diversity, everything. I've been 'round the world in my earlier years serving this country, seeing different countries, their laws, economics, how people live. My dude. We have it good. But like I said you're entitled to your own opinion as well as I am to mine.
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , but other countries , such as Canada, has better diversity with nicer people, less crime, better way and quality of life, more freedom.
I'm by no means saying Canada is the greatest country in the world, in fact I don't have enough information to really make that decision, but USA is far from the best in most aspects, except maybe the best Disney Parks (and Japan even has a. Big chance of taking that too).
I genuinely don't see how the USA could be the best country, but I very much commend you for not just commenting freedom as many do because that cannot be the reason, the USA is barely free and in fact falls 17th on the world freedom index.
It is better than a lot of places, but it also just isint the best.
@Orlandude, while yes, this is true, we may not have the highest or best educational system than another country, or have the highest level of life expectancy, or like Canada (great place btw, stereotypically nice its unbelievable) have a higher crime rate. It's the fact that dispite not being exactly number one on every good list, we still rank high altogether as a whole. For example: let's say I got into some good university, I sure as hell wasn't #1 in anything like period. But I still ranked high in a majority of subjects. Whereas one other person sucked at math and failed but got A+ in english. Like I said we are all entitled to our opinions and I respect yours. This country is damn far from perfect, and could use a butt-ton of improvements but I'll be damned if I didnt love this place. I think aside from all the B.S. that this country does have, the number one thing it comes down to for me, is the people that make this nation and the patriotism that they have.
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , I agree with everything you said, and again, I think it's far from bad, it's still pretty decent, it is just it's problem absolutely also puts it far from being the absolute best which is what people say, if Americans just said one of the best then I would already agree with that.
Also, I am Canadian in fact so I know how nice it is, although I am currently in the US visiting California.
@Orlandude, awesome sawce! I've only visited Victoria and I forget the name of the other place, but very beautiful. And like I said oh man you guys are seriously stereotypically nice. Or at least from where I visited. I used to live in Washington but moved to California for work and personal reasons. Now trying to get out again. But you seem like a pretty good person, someone I'd definitely get a beer with!
@eleven, as a Marine, don't expect me to turn against my fellow countrymen and constitution I swore to protect
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , wow that is high praise, thank you, I appreciate that
@Bloodthirsty Penguin, both good points but I would like to point out those countries are significantly smaller in comparison to the whole USA.
@Geo1345, doesn't that just further prove my point though? A smaller country with a smaller population should be easier to subdue. There are an estimated 393 million civilian firearms in the US, how the hell is that gonna be subdued?
Civil rights are more important than ones life. To simply advocate for their abolishment is worse than murder. Its attempted slavery of your entire people.
Gonna be interesting when the next civil war starts where the last one ended.
@ThePandaPool , some argue it has already begun and is being fought much like the Cold War, via propaganda and politics
@Hot Coffee, well its a culture war now. Where the majority is fighting around 7% of the democratic party that have managed to squirm their way into positions of power.
It is in our constitution!
@seeUpee, what was it we said about facts and confusing people?
Banning guns will not reduce gun violence. Banning guns won’t reduce any form of violence. The government knows this. The only purpose of banning guns is to prevent an oppressed people from being able to defend themselves.
@DesignatedElfWhipper, sorry but aren’t there so many studies showing countries who banned guns reduced their violence? Literally so many. There are many arguments against gun regulation but this isn’t one of them
@password123, god I hope you’re kidding. please reference a study where a gun ban has been proven to be effective on crime involving a firearm. By that logic, Detroit and New York should be the safest cities in the world... right??? Haha no. Please let me know if you find such a study.
@exxon8856, In addition to that implying that the result of a particular action in one country would be identical to a completely different country’s results is ridiculous. A lot of these countries where guns have been banned are a third our country’s size, a tenth the population, and have completely disparate cultures. Said studies, even if they do exist and are applicable for those countries almost certainly wouldn’t apply for our own.
I’m pretty sure everyone can agree his equivocating on slavery was some serious bull as well.
@pleroma77, *13th amendment is passed* *14th amendment is passed* *15th amendment is passed* “Thomas had never seen such bull before”
Why does everyone think gun regulation will apply to them??? If you’re sane and aren’t a criminal YOURE fine, it’s just those with serious mental illnesses or a criminal past that won’t be. Not you. So who cares if some guy that threatened to kill his ex gf doesn’t get to buy a gun?
@password123, A lot of people want the ban guns completely.
@password123, because many people want to take guns away from law-abiding citizens
