@NickDubsky , buy the sidearm you feel most comfortable with. If you live in an area where there is a range that rents guns try a few out. I personally prefer a 9mm but many folks like the 40 cal. Innovations in gunpowder tech and bullet design have opened up a lot of debate. The FBI just recently made the 9mm the standard issue from the 40 cal. Either way, carry the gun you can control best and feel most comfortable with. (This is in reference to conceal carry).

@NickDubsky , exactly what @Dudeliness said. I have a S&W 40, but its not what I carry bc its fvcking massive and heavy. My carry is a ruger lcp2, which is a .380. About the size of my palm, and much lighter. I would go with something like that or a compact 9mm. But please, PLEASE get used to whatever you get before you start carrying it. I've been shooting since I was about 8, maybe even younger, and I'm almost 32 now. But every gun is different, so you want to be very familiar with whatever you choose before you start carrying it.

@Not him again, dude I was going to reference a 380 since it is such an easy to conceal and control round. I was at a gun store where the clerk was saying to a female customer that she needed to carry a .45 cal at minimum for stopping power and I thought, how on earth can she control that? I couldn’t on a good day; let alone the stress of a bad situation. I’m of the mind that if you feel comfortable with a .22 then that is what you carry. My wife has a hard time racking my sig 9mm but the .22 is easy for her.
-
@Dudeliness, the worker at the gun store was suggesting that she carried a 45? He should be fired. Nobody should use something that big as a ccw, because even if you do manage to hit your intended target, chances are you're gonna blow straight through them and hit whatever or whoever's behind them as well.

@benderama, that is not a helpful counter argument. Pointing out the flaws, if any, in an argument is much more effective than disparaging it. Are you expecting your interlocutor to change his/her mind after reading your statement? I did not take sides, I’m merely trying to encourage more productive interactions.
-
@benderama, This argument is far superior to your last statement. Your logical thought process will be much better received than non-constructive insults. I am not engaging in this debate and will not comment on the subject at hand, but I am happy you chose to articulate a much more coherent and meaningful contribution.

@benderama, I’m amused that you went out of your way to find my one upload and downvote it. Did you find the fulfillment you were looking for in this pursuit? Perhaps your sense of self is so fragile that even killing me would not satiate your thirst for feeling self-righteous and important. At least you won’t use a gun, you’ll probably use a TV cord to strangle me since it wasn’t made with bad intentions.
