I heard it every time Mr Krabs walked in my SpongeBob Endgame upload
Fun fact of the day: all your teachers lied to you, humans actually have alot more than 5 senses. Just off the top if my head there's proprioception, thermoception, balance/acceleration, pain, and hunger
@TLabs , theres also one that let's you know where your body is in relation to itself
@Thatbright, that's proprioception, how you can touch your nose with your eyes closed and how you know when a limb has extended too far
@TLabs , there's also chemoception for how much CO2 is in your blood (think when you hold your breath) and for how much glucose is in your blood
@TLabs , wouldn’t those be sensations? The way I imagine it is that the senses are the “hardware” by which we interpret externals.
Pain and thermoception, for example, would be sensations interpreted by touch (i.e. sub dermal sensory nerves). And when you combine those sensory nerves with optical (sight) and vestibulocochlear nerves (hearing) you can interpret the sensations of balance and acceleration.
Maybe it’s all semantics.
@correction, . Some neuroscientists argue the case for internal senses as all senses are signals interpreted by the brain and things like pain and hunger are controlled by the brain. But there’s plenty of people who argue otherwise.
@correction, no they're all considered distinct senses because they're conferred by physically and functionally distinct sensory receptor organs. And sight and touch have nothing to do with balance and acceleration that's conferred by the semicircular fluid filled canals in your ear
