I mean I think they’re there to save children mostly. As it’s understandable if they don’t know their limits. If you, a grown adult, are relying that heavily on a lifeguard just stay the fvck out of the water.
@Natural Sarcasm , except those lifeguards are trained to lift people out of the water, regardless of their age. It takes years of lessons and a half dozen exams before someone can be called a lifeguard.
@Dinkelberg, yup, had to be a "dummy" for one of my brothers life guarding exams once, for proper procedure on how to save someone who's broke their neck. There's alot of training and techniques that go into it. They're trained to be able to save overweight men, many times the size of them
@Jipz, As a former EMT I can't figure out a way to stabilize c-spine while keeping someone afloat, keeping their airway clear, and moving them back to the shore through an onslaught of waves. Props to the lifeguards.
@Natural Sarcasm , used to be a lifeguard in middle school. Can confirm
@ImaginaryKyle, it takes a lot of practice and really good breath control. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes a lot easier.
As someone that has gone through lifeguard training I can tell you that if someone passed the exams they can pull a 300 pound man out of the water and begin saving his life in under two minutes no matter what age or size. Otherwise they would be kicked from the program
@FunnyBecauseFWord, can comfirm, brother and his gf have been lifeguards for years
hey hey hey that's mean to her!
she's at least got the iq of a big Mac..
My ex was a lifeguard and when she said she'd teach me how to swim I said no and she told me to flail and keep her away from me and basically panic in the water and she'd "save" me so I did it and I'll be damned, she dragged me to the deep end where I legit did panic, and then proceed to drag me to the shallow end and then out of the pool. I was 275 at the time and she was a lean 130 so you'd be amazed what lifeguards can do. Needless to say I trusted her to start teaching me how to swim after that lol
Maybe fix your basic grammar before talking about someone else being stupid.
My friend is part of a Disney college program and apparently the only requirements for being a pool lifeguard was that he had to be able to treat for two minutes with his hands above water
Get gud at swimming then if your ageist ass is more worried about their name than their qualifications
What about one named Sandy Peppercorn?
@Unoriginal, you mean Wendy Peffercorn? If so, then yes, gladly
@Reedmg, nah it's her cousin
@Reedmg, Sandy is her long forgotten twin sister, and a bit better looking if you ask me!!!
@Unoriginal, this is the real top comment.
