I like the idea that “man is the sickest animal” because we might hypothetically dig up a corpse to get some valuables, when just about every other animal on earth won’t bother to bury the corpse at all, and will probably end up eating it and leaving it to rot. Tumblr’s great.
@YUNoJump, and by "great" we really mean full of shjt.
@YUNoJump, well, to be fair, no animal has targeted another group of its kind for genetic eradication over abstract ideas and arbitrary prejudices.
We're more terrifying than any horror movie/game creature, even when we think we're doing good. Some outright unthinkable abominations spawn in the hearts and minds of men.
@YUNoJump, actually, elephants mourn and then cover their dead once they die.
@Doctor Krieger, not entirely accurate. Ants perpetuate genocide quite frequently, and there are are a few other species that segregate themselves based on physical features.
Of course, we can only guess at their motives since we can't exactly ask them...
@I Are Lebo, ant genocide, if you can call it that, is clearly practical. It's basically the same idea as a larger animal killing to protect territory and resources, but on a larger scale with a smaller size and with less cognizance and more biological compulsion.
Ants don't have free will and don't kill other groups of ants based on abstract ideas and arbitrary prejudices. They can't.
Also, segregation isn't genocide.
@Doctor Krieger, I was listing segregation as a second item, not as part of the first.
Secondly, how can you presume to know whether or not animals have free will? We have not been able to comprehensively prove that HUMANS have free will! How can you state that you know and understand what ants think about?
I understand the basis of ant brains being too primitive for any actual cognition, but this doesn't apply to the entire animal kingdom. It takes a pretty large piece arrogance to think one just knows what all animals think.
@I Are Lebo, silly Lebo, serration is for blades!
Also, it's proven that ants act according to the compulsion of pheromones and, in the absence of a queen, based on biological compulsion to replace a queen. It's a scientific fact in so far as science can provide certainty.
Finally, #NotAll. We're talking about ant "genocide" here, remember?
@Doctor Krieger, no, we aren't talking about genocide. We are talking about ethics. Genocide was just an example I brought up, not my entire argument. Not sure why you're hyperfocusing on an anecdotal point.
My main argument is that the statement "no animal has targeted another group of its kind for genetic eradication over abstract ideas and arbitrary prejudices" is an inherently false statement. Animals kill each other in the wild quite frequently, with exact figures varying quite widely by species. As an example, Gorillas and apes have behaviours that from an outsiders perspective look like lynching.
Because there is a communication gap between us and these species, we can only ever speculate as to the inner workings of their minds. Scanners and dissections can teach us how animals think, but it cannot teach us what they think. At least, not yet.
Besides, if there was a genocide amongst an animal kingdom, how would we even know about it? You think satellites are just watching
the entire planet and tracking every squirrel, tiger, cow, and bear?
Also, serration was an auto correct and I fixed it before even seeing your response.
@I Are Lebo, I was talking about genocide in specific, not ethics.
@Doctor Krieger, then you were derailing the conversation to focus on one specific way in which humanity is awful to each other, and even then your point was weak. We do not know whether some species of animals go to war because there are many species that we have not observed closely enough to know, and many more that we can only speculate at the reasons behind their behaviours.
In either event, genocide is not a purely human activity. Genocide does not require a religious motive. When an animal species hunts another to extinction, that is also genocide.
@YUNoJump, is man as sick as this dab? *dabs sickly*
@Doctor Krieger, All animals do that. It's called a territory dispute. You ever hear housecats fighting in the street? Hell most animals (lions for instance) go out of their way to kill rival animal offspring to ensure their own offspring will have less competition in the future.
Why do people try to sell fake history?
@ArbyTheGreat, Imagine their ego as their pen!s, and fake history is a cheap hooker who specializes in handjobs
@ArbyTheGreat, because tricking gullible people is a public service.
@ArbyTheGreat, Because it gets them attention. Anyways, back to the time I ruined humanity by giving them an apple...
@ArbyTheGreat, to look like they're on the "right side" of it.
@ArbyTheGreat, because fooling morons is fun.
@ArbyTheGreat, Guatemala has this problem. They’re called “grave cleaners”. They basically throw infant corpses in the trash...
@ArbyTheGreat, because retards don't get locked in the Attic anymore
I mean, to be fair, I've had disgusting human beings steal the copper plaque on my grandmother's gravestone. People can be fvcking animals.
Those exposed bones need Minty Paste
“SCORE ONE FOR THE OLD FOLKS”
“Wait...where are my shoes!?!?!?”
I turn my food brown before releasing it back into the world.
While this post is fake I have seen a video in South America where they did remove a grandmothers body out of the mausoleum, the coffin and put the remains in a trash bag because the family couldn’t pay off the ownership of the space. So yea just cause it doesn’t happen in America doesn’t mean it doesn’t in other parts of the world.
@megamanx181x, in all communist countries to have yet exist, they just dug mass graves and dumped the bodies in like it was a landfill. In Nazi Germany they did the same until they started using incinerators.
Was expecting a Jamal joke for the last bit there
This is the end of the "Tumblr messed up" trip please exam and return to your memeing
