Simple, easy, to the point, this is a good meme 10 out of 10
@Captain Swordsman, it's a good meme lieutenant knife man. 12/10
I'm ok with retard being a 3rd gender.
WHY THE F*CK DO PEOPLE CARE SO MUCH?
@Usmovers, it's important to snuff out idiotic ideas
Sex is male or female. Gender is the social constructs people placed against sex. Therefor there are hundreds of genders but only two sex.
@hasher2288, even then, about 2% of people are biologically intersex. Having unusual chromosomes, or genitals that are somewhere between male and female
@HolyCatchphrase, that's deep. I can't go deeper than you. But one time someone went deep inside me.
@SeussAlmighty, yeah mutations are common in a lot of different aspects. 2% of the population is about 140 million people.
@SeussAlmighty, hermaphrodites. Men born without testicles.
@HolyCatchphrase, yes, and these individuals are usually categorized medically as hermaphrodites or one of two types of pseudo-hermaphrodites depending on the gonads. That said, interesex individuals often have vastly different anatomy.
@hasher2288, also for those down voting, gender and sex are accepted by the scientific community as different theoretical constructs and are researched heavily. Science is not a liberal conspiracy.
@hasher2288, and as a final note, yes most societies have one gender per sex. Cross cultural research has actually found that a few societies actually have a third gender. Some native American tribes had individuals they regarded as two-spirit; these were hermaphrodites that were viewed as important spiritual figures, renowned for balance. Being a hermaphrodite in these cultures came with societal roles, and therefore had it's own gender. Other cross cultural studies have found other societies with third genders as well, and sometimes there are actually 2 culturally accepted genders per sex.
@hasher2288, no, no, no. Gender and sex are correlated, for we have biological gender roles. Also, what there is hundreds of is gender expression. There are many ways to express your gender, not the existence of many genders. Also, if gender was a societal construct, and not biological, trans people wouldn't exist for there wouldn't be cases of gender dysphoria being able to occur.
@Baby Cthulhu, the idea of what gender is and what each gender should do and wear and act like shifts between cultures and it's in that sense a societal construct. For example our society says men shouldn't wear dresses, though biologically it makes more sense for their biology than for women's. That's because of gender, not sex. Some cultures have considered all those gender expressions as more than two genders, some, like ours, never have.
@hasher2288, why not thousands? All those are just things people make up. For people without a chemical imbalance, there are 2.
@HolyCatchphrase, obviously things like clothing are societal, but just because a male or female doesn't want to take part in such norms, it doesn't equate a new gender. Too many people are putting on the cloths of the opposite sex and claiming to be some new gender. Yes, our culture didn't consider those different expressions as different genders because they are not. Just because you express yourself in a more masculine, feminine, or neutral way, it doesn't mean you are any less male or female.
@Baby Cthulhu, again, whether or not that equates a new gender would depend on whether the society recognizes another gender or not. We don't, but the idea is not unheard of
@hasher2288, how does someone get downvoted so much for giving a well articulated and polite opinion. Yall talk about reasonable discourse and then downvote someone to oblivion for an opinion you dont like. You may not agree, but they made a fair and balanced argument backed by contemporary science. Debate them, dont just downvote them for disagreeing with you, how the hell do you make progress that way?
@Monad Vairocana, that post made me visibly smile, thank you
@Monad Vairocana, see, this is how I am... I understand gender and sex are separate and I've actually been arguing that point with someone on a different picture for the past month or so, but the idea of "hundreds" of genders is just waaayy too much of a stretch. Tiny, tiny variations do not constitute a new gender in its entirety. I can accept non gendered or gender fluid (making 4 genders in total) but anything other than that is just trying too hard
Did anyone think about Kylo Ren for a split second?
Did you just assume.... ah f*ck off!
As far as the issue goes, two genders, trans is genderdisphoria, hermaphrodites are extremely rare, and everything else along these lines as 'identities' attempt to give special titles to oneself for thinking the way they act or lifestyle choices need to be expressed in some stupid made up b/s
What bout hermaphrodites or people with no genitals or a robot dick or an asexual plant or All from zoolander 2 or a mangled alley transgender that's kinda in between still?
@ihatecums, what about them?
@ihatecums, what are their chromosomes like?
@Vesrox, doesn't chromosomes determine sex, not gender? I don't care about this issue, but definitionally, sex is biological and gender is social.
@AlQaholic, sex and gender are the same thing
@Vesrox, Marriem-Webster dictionary
Sex: either of the two major forms of individuals that occur in many species and that are distinguished respectively as female or male especially on the basis of their reproductive organs and structures.
Gender: a subclass within a grammatical class (such as noun, pronoun, adjective, or verb) of a language that is partly arbitrary but also partly based on distinguishable characteristics (such as shape, social rank, manner of existence, or sex) and that determines agreement with and selection of other words or grammatical forms.
According to their definition, they are not the same thing. In fact, one of them can be influenced by the other but not necessarily the direct copy of it.
Wow, so clever and funny. Did Richard Pryor make this?
