Well now the claim is we messed it all up or something and can't leave. Like Syria was this utopia until we showed up
@Sluggernot, look at it this way: if a city block has a fire on it and you set another fire on the block trying to stop the first fire, you still have 2 fires now. Only difference is this fire is being kept down by some of the ash of the 2nd fire so take the ash away and the fire gets a boost in oxygen.
@thetkmaster , more like US firefighters showed up, started getting the fire down but more fires popped up and after 2 years the firefighters said f this.
@Sluggernot, not off the mark but the firefighters couldn't quite decide being standard or fahrenheit 451 style. Not their fault, war is hard and bull and due to choices of the both the us and the surrounding world, we're set up as the unoffical world security force so it's kind of hard to stay out of things with both internal and external motivation
@Sluggernot, thats not how this story went. You should review the historical facts
@Sluggernot, the issue isn’t necessarily us pulling out of the area, it’s more that we just suddenly did and left our allies there screwed. Then when they got attacked, we contacted their attacker and said, ‘yeah you can have their land if you give them five days to leave’.
So more it’s a case of it feels like we stabbed our allies in the back then twisted the knife while it was still in there with this catch 22 ‘ceasefire’
@Sluggernot, it's that we suddenly left a power vaccuum that led to the murder of our allies who helped us fight ISIS (which was filled with turkey and Russia) which also greatly damaged our reputation thus future alliances. We could have established a plan to exit that wouldn't have let to the murder of militants and civilians but for "some reason" trump chose to evacuate basically overnight
@Sluggernot, I just think we should treat our allies better
@Sluggernot, I don’t mean to sound evil or mean or whatever. But these isis prisoners that are escaping should just be executed. They seem pretty determined to kill and be killed themselves anyway. Killing them will save lives in the end. I’m not saying line them all up and shoot them I’m saying find them guilty in a military court. Make their execution legal, like in some US States.
@BearDaniels, im down. You can absolutely remove your right to live. Sucks but hey. Don't do that stuff
@CellSword, it was either we remove our troops from a small area, or we go to war with Turkey (a NATO “ally”)
I’m not sure it was the right thing to do, but I know that no matter what, the whole area is fûcked whether we stay or not.
@big freedom, There is no way in hell Turkey was gonna go to war with the US! No way.
@Rudolph Schmidt , they use their own military to “defend their own border” where we have 50 troops... they’re not “going to war” with US, but we sure as hell would have to retaliate if they shoot our soldiers.
Like I said, I don’t know what is the right thing to do, but the politics of it are super disingenuous. D’s and R’s.
No matter what we do, the Middle East is a mess. We cannot fix it. We can slightly make it temporarily less messy at best.
@thetkmaster , then maybe the dude should stop trying to put out fires as it seems he only creates new ones.
@big freedom, UN ‘ally’, seriously? How can people have an opinion on very complicated diplomatic problems when they don’t even have any idea what the difference is between UN and NATO? The UN is not an alliance! Even North Korea is a member of the UN! The US and Turkey are both part of the military alliance that is NATO, and that is the reason why Turkey would have never attacked when even one single US soldier was present. Withdrawing the forces embedded with the Kurds was giving Turkey a go. It was abandoning a group of fighters that we needed to destroy ISIL and now they ‘re done, leaving them to die. It was a dick move and they realized it and are trying damage control now. One thing I do agree with: the problems in the Middle East are impossible to solve...but we need the oil. So we’ll keep on screwing it up until they run out of it.
@big freedom, having been in the military I would have gladly stayed and helped defend the people that fought and died beside me. But hey that's only my opinion.
@CellSword, that’s an absolutely valid opinion. I have no idea what the right thing to do is, and neither does anyone else.
@Smurf309fs, oh calm down Nancy. It was first thing in the morning and I misspoke UN for NATO. Get off your high horse about “don’t have an opinion, unless you know as much as I know” BS. Like I said earlier, I don’t know what the right thing to do is, and neither does ANYONE ELSE
@big freedom, all right dude, don’t get your panties in a bunch. You just ‘misspoke’, right? Don’t get all defensive, you don’t need to be an expert to form an opinion on something, but excuse me if I notice when the absolute fundamentals are wrong. I have been deployed 7 times to various wars and conflicts in that region and one thing is clear: Western forces are never there to help or police a situation, every country involved will just try to defend their interests. When ISIS was controlling the Iraqi oil fields, we had to do something. Leaving the Kurds when we no longer need them is objectively logic, but making it so obvious was uncalled for. You are right, nobody knows what is the correct action, but that one was clearly wrong.
@Smurf309fs, “don’t get your panties in a wad” says the guy who came swinging with “you don’t get to have an opinion”.
While also contradicting yourself? “Western forces aren’t never there to help” and “when ISIS was controlling... we had to do something”
Well, which is it?? We’re not there to help but we have to do something? You’re all over the place and it’s tough to follow.
@big freedom, I never said you could not have an opinion, I just wondered why people didn’t bother reading up on complicated issues before forming one. Clearly my remarks were received, you googled “difference between NATO and UN” and edited your remarks. To your second remark, I’ll try to explain it a little better: we are not there to ‘help’ the locals or any country in particular. We are there only to protect our own interests. So when we ‘had to do something’, it was because our own interests were at stake, they had taken control over the oil fields and became a player in a complicated market, we couldn’t allow that. So we had to do something for our own! Not to ‘help’. That is why we never seem to ‘help out’ in Africa for example. And that is a logical policy, even though, in the intrest of diplomacy, we can never sell it that way. It seemed most people were able to follow that train of thoughts, maybe you were reading this ‘first thing in the morning’ again. Tip: more coffee!
i mean, the kurds were our allies and we kinda just set them up to die. politics aside, fvcking dick move
@Hoban Washburne, meanwhile the Mexican government just lost a gun fight to a cartel
US fvcking exsists:
/ •\ /• \
I __ I
I / \ l
I I I l
"How dare you!"
Haters are gonna hate
The US is a great country, and because of that held to a high standard. Abandoning allies is weak move, would be unforgivable if one of our allies left US troops to die
Invade the middle east for oil interests: how dare you
Betray your allies in favour of a dictator who's literally stealing land from another country: how dare you
@AWildMagikarp, so i guess you're in favor of eternally playing world police i guess.
@AWildMagikarp, finally someone who labels the dictator for what he is and doesn’t automatically attack the country he screwed over.
@BlazingBowman, ............you said i guess twice and misspelled you’re. that was a LOT of errors to make in one sentence. dont take this the wrong way or anything but.......
.......you graduated the 3rd grade, right?
@BlazingBowman, ............you said i guess twice and misspelled you’re. that was a LOT of errors to make in one sentence. dont take this the wrong way or nuthin but.......
.......you graduated the 3rd grade, right?
@Hoban Washburne, still butthurt? Its okay if your stance on an issue is hypocritical as long as he made a spelling mistake. How about you get some principals.
@BlazingBowman, my thing is we had an agreement... they go in and do the dirty work, and we support them. They did their part, and then our guys were ordered out to leave them to quite literally die. Gonna be real tough to find another group of people willing to believe us again.
@CunningLinguist, what agreement was that? To destroy isis? The thing we created, and intervened in destroying multiple times before it was finally put down. No we need to leave im tired of my government always eternally making any excuse to send american troops to into a fight we have nothing to do with. Waisting billions of tax payer money for authoritarian dictators that kill and oppress their own people. Fvck the middle east.
That is the last face I want to see on this app...
@Bad Suggestions, because you're tired of seeing it or because you agree with her views?
@officercoolguy, very tired. I don’t think people want to see a rant on this app.
But. But. But.
Unless your military is big enough to where we can’t crush you in a month if we felt like it, stfu.
@RepostSniper, yeah, nobody can criticize us cuz we have the biggest guns, thats not despotic!!!!
@Hoban Washburne, they can criticize us all they want, but it’s from a position of ignorance. My point is, when your country has sent tens of thousands of its sons and daughters to die fighting a difficult war to stop people who would decapitate anyone who isn’t Muslim if given the chance, I’ll value your opinion. Until then, you’re welcome for the sacrifice my country has made for yours, and if you don’t like it, eat my star spangled ass.
@RepostSniper, even if you do a fvckload of right, folks should still be allowed to criticize you when you do wrong. if ghandi kicked a puppy id still call him out, and if the US fvcks over our allies folks should still call us out. doesnt mean we’re bad, means we did bad and should own it
@Hoban Washburne, You see a guy outside building an entire house by himself. It’s actually coming along pretty well despite being under construction for 18 years. But every once in a while, he accidentally breaks a window or something and he has to clean it up. You wanna sit on the sidewalk and bïtch at him? Cool, who gives a shït what you think? Maybe if you actually grabbed your tools and helped him, the job would get done faster and with better results, and there’d be fewer screw ups.
again, they can criticize us all they want, but until they start helping in a comparable way, I don’t give a shït about their opinions.
Democrates b!tching about trump leaving syria. Stfu weve been wanting out of there for decades. We finaly got it and youre throwing a tantrum.
@BlazingBowman, seems you’re real popular today my man. im curious, you just unilaterally hate all liberals? you are by a wide margin one of the most hateful folks ive managed to encounter. seems like a sucky way to be
@Hoban Washburne, is someone still butthurt that they dont understand the difference between positive and negative awareness?
No I dont really hate liberals i hate smug, self-righteous, authoritarians, elitist who look down on their fellow citizens.
You dare doubt me? King, king of the faeries, the faerie king?
How dare you
