He also didn't quite cheat. He gambled based on how the Reds were gonna do, which he could control. He should still be in the hall of fame though
@Knuckles the Echidna, it really depends on if the hall of fame is supposed to be character based or not. But if it's performance based you are right. He didn't cheat and improve his performance he just did some slimy sh!t.
@Knuckles the Echidna, it wasn't so much he gambled on the reds as he bet against them multiple times, and since, as you said he could control that, so obviously he was actively hurting his team
@AJMEM, Actually there is no public evidence that he ever bet against the Reds. There is a notebook in the national archives, that had been sealed by court order, that apparently documents all his bets; however, it has never been said to which side he had bet on the occasions he did bet on the Reds. Either way he still technically broke the rules. They just say no betting with no mention of for or against.
@Totally Not The NSA, oh okay, my bad, I thought it was proven he had bet against them, but I guess the NSA would know best, not that you're the NSA or anything.
@AJMEM, No worries, mang. I could be wrong on it too. That is just what I have heard. As you said, I'm obviously not the NSA. What do I know?...
He didn't own up to it, he said that he was gambling, knew he broke the rules, and then continued to defend his position by saying he did nothing wrong. And to this day, continues to deny wrongdoing. Brady, meanwhile, has never actually been proved to cheat. In the words of the report released by the NFL, that it was "more than likely" that he knew the balls were under inflated. Not saying it wasn't wrong, but I think that the facts should be kept straight.
@Goldeneye, i remember seeing the whole Pete Rose thing on espn a few mo ago. He still says he gambles to this day, its just not gambling on the same level (as a crime). I think he should be let in, because he never actually cheated in the sport though.
@Captain Magma, I agree, he does belong in the hall. However, he also broke the rules. And while I'm not saying Brady didn't, what I am saying is that the double standard in this pic is bs. I'm not a patriot apologist (born and raised a packer fan), I just don't like the distortion of facts to take a cheap shot at a great player.
@Goldeneye, i just dont like brady regardless. So whatever i say is really biased 😁
@Goldeneye, even if Brady did do what he was accused of (which nobody ever came close to finding proof of, there's not even any real proof that the Pats deflated footballs at all in that game), it was still common practice in the NFL for many quarterbacks. Brett Favre, for example, said that he did the same thing like every game. Brad Johnson, the Buccaneers QB when they won a Super Bowl, also said that he did it and knew many other QBs were doing the same thing.
You don't say that. Don't talk about my Tom.
@Thine Sir , He likes his balls deflated what can we say?
Proof baseball is better than football! This will end up getting down voted. Where are my baseball fans at??
@The Iron Horse, Barry bonds
@The Iron Horse, that doesn't make it better... Only stricter... I'm also a baseball fan myself though
@The Iron Horse, Personally, I think baseball is hella boring to watch. It's fun to play tho. I like Football the most. (Waits for someone to bring up Rugby).
@JackoftheDead, and Mark McGuire, and Sammy Sosa, and Jose Canseco, and Manny Ramirez, and Alex Rodriguez, and.....
@The Iron Horse, I hate football because all I hear about is fantasy and it takes over an entire day of the week from September to February. People need to stop getting a boner over football. It's a game. And on that note, I prefer baseball 100x over
@The Iron Horse, they're in the 80s
@The Iron Horse, i hit many a base with my balls
@The Iron Horse, Atlanta Braves 4 Lyfe
@The Iron Horse, Wait, baseball is a thing? -Texans
@The Iron Horse, ayy
Unpopular opinion backed by facts: in a chemistry course I took last semester we were going through the natural gas laws, how gases at different pressures and temperatures behave within a certain volume. There was a college professor who looked into deflate gate and determined that lack of pressure in the balls could be accurately explained using these laws, if the balls were measured in New England and then flew over to Denver. There's a chance the whole thing was blown out of proportion because no one knew their science. But it doesn't excuse all other instances of proposed cheating. This is coming from a Jets fan, so it pains me to defend that patriots, but there's still a chance, and it should be considered.
@The Real Question is, if you look into the court case where he appealed he NFLs suspension, the defense was "ideal gas law." The NFL had apparently never heard of it, and the court ruled against the league, as they couldn't disprove the defense.
I had this one coach in Highschool that would say if we wernt cheating then we wernt trying hard enough.....we lost a lot
Also...you mad, Pats haters? ;)
Oh so we're beating THIS horse again?
I mean I don't really watch sports that often but I think the major difference is one admitted and one didn't. If you accept blame then you accept the consequences if you deny it they need enough proof that you did whatever it is you are being blamed before you get punished. I'm not sure if this is the case in this instance I just know that's how the world works. Honesty may be the best policy but it also can bring about swift punishment.
Brady has literally never cheated.
Literally never once cheated.
The butthurt is real
Yah but A-Rod cheated...
Rose gambled, not cheated
He misinterpreted the rules
Y'all crucify brady based on an Allegation but let manning go based on facts
Whether or not the Patriots deflated the balls, we all know that it didn't change the outcome of the game
I was given good advice on this - "lie, lie, lie deny".
It's hard being the swinger for the L.A. Lakers.
Hillary?!? Is that you in male form?
These goddamn sportsters with their constant sportsing!! Grrrr!
What? Of course I know who they are!! *Sweats profusely*
