For being really great people eh
Unfortunately, it’s all a lie. We’re just well-mannered assholes.
@I Are Lebo, We'd win the gold medal for passive aggression for sure.
@I Are Lebo, that’s better than us at least
@I Are Lebo, you literally have a law that establishes saying sorry does not constitute an admission of guilt in a court of law
@I Are Lebo, I have seen protonjon you are not lying
@BigJohnson86, as a matter of practical necessity, yes. It’s hard to differentiate when the same shorthand can refer to “I’m sorry that I did this to you” or “I’m sorry that this happened to you”.
@I Are Lebo, yeah in the us we don’t instinctively say sorry. We start yelling so we don’t need legal protection for that.
@I Are Lebo, not going to lie, us Canadians aren’t actually super nice, what we are is non confrontational (with obvious exceptions of course) Most Canadians just avoid conflict with others but we are more passive aggressive. For example in most places if someone is in your way you’ll ask them to move, in Canada we impatiently wait for them to notice us and move on their own. If they don’t notice, whoever is waiting makes a noise so they’re heard.
@Duncan5769, I think it’s simpler than that. We just have a tendency to use social nicety language more often. “Please”, “thank you”, “have a nice day”, and of course, “sorry”. This gets mistaken for niceness.
A number of years back, I was on a boat trip with my brother in Los Angeles. It was remarked on how polite I was, because every time I got a drink from the bar I’d say please and thank you and all of that. Someone said to my brother how I was the nicest person ever, and my brother and I just kind of looked at each other before bursting out laughing.
I’m just like, “in Canada, I’m an asshole.”
Unless their hockey team loses
@Sexy Homunculus, I want the USSR to reform so we can get a rematch of the hockey brawl
You spelt dystopian hell camp wrong
@butternut squash, why would the world be a dystopian hell camp?
@I Are Lebo, you think it's not? Look around, anyway i never said the world, the memes about Canada
@butternut squash, no, I understood. I was just mocking you because your point is fücking stupid.
I’m assuming you’re talking about the indigenous schools program.
Referring to an immoral system that was shut down decades ago and that everyone agrees was wrong as a “dystopian hell camp” is hyperbolic to the point of retardation.
Especially when the actual dystopian hell camps are in China right now.
@I Are Lebo, you're exactly where they want you dude, good luck, enjoy your shjtty retirement
@butternut squash, 🤦🏻♂️
“We offer you hospitality and kindness, unless you’re an indigenous person then some of us will offer kindness but most will still be assholes to you.”
I once spent an hour in downtown Toronto trying to figure what was “off”.
It took me forever to realize it was too quiet because people weren’t honking and yelling in traffic!
