I have seen loads of people do this and it's been male and female, stupidity knows no gender lol
I remember back when Oregon passed the law (decades late) that allowed people to pump their own gas, and people there pumped the "eco-friendly green gas" and wondered why it screwed up their cars.
@TheStarHawk, I still can’t believe how spoiled those people were with that.
@TheStarHawk, well it's no wonder they weren't allowed to pump it themselves.
I am a mechanic, and it is surprising how many people do this
@KingRothtar, I was about to say I work on diesels and the amount of people who put gas in diesel tanks or diesel in DEF tanks is high, and that one time they did both was entertaining too
@Fluffy Cat, yeah I could see that we've had weird stuff come though before. LIke water in a gas tank.
@KingRothtar, that would be a first for me I wonder what they were thinking
@KingRothtar, doesnt Nissan make diesel cars though?
@MMSieBreeze, they do have a truck, I don't know of any diesel cars though
@KingRothtar, It pisses me off that the gas nozzle fits in the diesel hole.
Diesel into gas engine = not going anywhere very fast
Gas into diesel = damage to expensive things (potentially)
Gas should be a fvcking triangle or something...
@Fluffy Cat, the DEF thing makes me cringe. I work for a freightliner dealership, aftertreatment parts cost a fortune
@A Deformed Penis, it's a WHOLE lot cheaper of a fix to replace what happens to a gasoline car that has diesel put in it than vice versa. Still very expensive though, so I wouldn't suggest it.
And as far as the nozzles fitting, non-commercial vehicles that use diesel are still required to abide by the same EPA standards as gasoline vehicles, meaning (well, a lot of things) that the fuel evap system has to be of similar design to trap gasses.
@Not him again, yeah they are I work for Ryder we buy a lot from you guys because of it lol
@Fluffy Cat, truck centers?? Lol
@Not him again, yeah it wasnt my first choice lol
@Fluffy Cat, we still got your money, that's all that matters haha. Which one do you buy from?
@Not him again, usually fyda
@Fluffy Cat, no I meant which truck centers location?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it would be way worse if this was the other way around.
@ThePandaPool , bad is still bad
@ThePandaPool , gasoline will destroy diesel injectors...and for a Cummins 6.7L theyre about 1k a piece
@MMSieBreeze, sell parts for a freightliner dealership, can confirm
That's ok, the (probably) male mechanic will let her know soon enough
@Not him again, "probably" lol
Ok just 2 things though:
1. Most diesel nozzles won't fit in a unleaded gas opening, hole, whatever.
2. I know it's a stupid/bad design but there are multiple gas stations around me that have a green nozzle for regular/unleaded
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, bp is green..
My thought was that she didn’t put it in all the way. How can you tell she’s using the wrong type of fuel?
@Baby Cthulhu, I don’t know if this is Canada, but here at most of our gas stations diesel is on the left and gas on the right.
Wait till she turns it on...
I can hear it now, "But I'm trying to go green, it's more expensive because it's better for the environment. Do you even know how to fix cars? Where is you're manager?"
The dumbest thing I've done is since I bought my new car I put premium in it, but my whole life I've always used regular unleaded. I've come close to putting regular in instead a few times, but never even close to this
