In Germany I get a month of vacation and I have to take at least two weeks of at least once during the year. It felt weird.
@Auslander, here in Corporate America they hate us taking time off also discussing our wages they turned it into some kind of taboo despite that taboo only benefiting them everybody listens to it America is made of stupid
@eleven, oh I know. I'm originally from Texas. I just moved here in January on a job transfer. They told me the vacation policy and I didn't believe it first. They actually want you to take vacation here.... they looked at me like I was crazy
@Auslander, My dad’s job in America is like that. They make you take 2 weeks at a time so they can run an audit on you while you’re away to make sure you aren’t stealing/doing anything illegal to the company.
@eleven, at my job (in america) if you take time off there is a good chance it will hinder any kinda raise u may get in the future.
My boss encourages us to use them. He only denies us if we absolutely need to be there
I know that any pto I have when I retire I get as a nice little bonus check. Though I can only carry 6 weeks worth over every year. Anything above that I lose for good. Luckily that cut off means I can use that extra time before said cutoff and not lose it.
I honestly don’t have sick days, I have PTO days and that’s it, which kinda sucks cuz if I’m sick I want a real sick leave day not use my vacation time
My job makes us use our vacation days that we earned in the event we need to take a day off for, say, a doctor’s appointment. There’s an option to request a day off without pay at the time clock, but they won’t allow it, saying that it’s “company policy” to use our PTO to take a day off, or some such nonsense. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lumped in our sick days in with our PTO
It be like that
