@Nyxa, you, like many Americans, believe false statistics about gun violence. Over HALF of gun deaths in the US are intentional suicides, suicidal people will kill themselves with or without guns. Almost every "mass shooting" that occurs is gang on gang violence, gangs will operate with or without firearms. Now I assume you're an Australian so it'd be understandable to not know these facts, but the lack of knowledge in the general American population and the false statistics are disgusting.
-
@Michael Fassbender, Australia had a massacre in the 90s that was the deadliest mass shooting in the English speaking world. The nation was so shocked that they forced gun owners to sell their guns to the govt. Now it's nearly impossible to obtain a collector's license, and even then it's restrictive as hell. Also most of the deadly animals live in desolate areas so they aren't really that threatening.
-
@Big Hat Brogan, I was down at my local shooting range a few years ago, so things may have changed and my memory may be a little sketchy, but I enquired about obtaining a pistol license and from what I can recall, there's an application process which includes gun safety classes that can take up to several months to complete, and once you pass that you can purchase a pistol however I was told that it must remain locked up at the gun club for a minimum of 12 months before you can take it home, and during that 12 months you must compete in at least 3 club competitions to show that you are capable of using it correctly. At least that's what I was told.

@Michael Fassbender, So I don't want to get in the gun ownership argument here, bt your one point doesn't really work. Yes gangs will exist with or without guns, bt guns make it considerably easier for. violent crime to happen. Compare it to the Irish rebellion against Britain, they had guns, bt when they got their hands on automatic guns the whole situation became worse and more violent. My point being gangs with knives are much better than gangs with guns

@Michael Fassbender, Hey Fassbender, im not going to discuss whether or not your point makes sense, but to tell them that it is disgusting that they don't know enough about America is really uncalled for. You, as an American, know this, but do you know the gun laws of other Big countries? Know their statistics? Oh and also, you said that about half of gun deaths are accidental suicides. But wouldn't a stricter gun law still result in less gun suicides? Not to critisize americas way of Handling guns, I'm just genuinely curious as to why the suicides make it less bad in your opinion.
-
@A pet named Steve, I'm not sure, but I think he was saying American's lack of knowledge on it is disguising. He said intentional suicides, not accidental. There probably is a good amount of death by accidental shooting, but there are a lot of things out there that could also cause death by accident. Like for example a knife, running with scissors, looking directly at my face etc.

@Michael Fassbender, It's because Australia has common sense "In Australia we had the biggest massacre on earth and the Australian government went, "That's it, no more guns!" And we all went, "Yeah, right, then, that seems fair enough." Now in America, you have the Sandy Hook Massacre where tiny little children died and your government went, "Maybe, we'll get rid of big guns." And 50 percent of you said, "[Expletive] you, don't take my guns!" " Jim Jefferies Bare

@Factory BOY, but liquor stores make it so easy to get drunk and go out and drive into a crowd of people. And more people are killed by drunk drivers a year than guns do. Hell, cars alone kill more. But we aren't banning alcohol or cars because its not there fault its the people who drink that bottle or take that text while going down the freeway.
-
@Michael Fassbender, he still has a damn good point the US looks at massacres like this and thanks to certain lobbyists we carry on without looking at the actual problem also yes he made up some things even here but he isn't wrong also please tell me what being autistic has to do with having again a damn good point I have to have a certain form of Autism called asbergers is my point invalid just because I have a certain level of emotional numbness that allows me to see actual problems in the world like how gun control needs to be tightened and also how much sports stars are paid when they don't actually do anything important or global warming or the dominance of the rich in politics
-
@eleven, sounds like Australians are pansies. You call it common sense to let the government get rid of guns. I call it bowing down to the government. So when somebody drives a truck through a crowd of people does that mean the Australian government's gonna get rid of all the trucks? Actually there was an incident that happened in Europe if I remember correctly about a year ago where somebody drove a truck through a crowd killed a bunch of people. Anyways. The point is don't put the blame on the tool. I don't blame a spoon for making me fat. You put the blame on the person that uses the tool. Removing the guns will not remove the problem. Criminals will get the guns regardless. You all don't seem to understand what a criminal is. You know, the people who don't follow the law. They steal and do other things that are against the law. You know, bad people that go against the rules. Not a difficult thing to understand. So stronger gun laws won't change what criminals do.
-
@eleven, by the way I have nothing against Australia or Australians. But when you're going to be a little insulting. I'm going to come back just as strong. Most of the people in my family are gun owners. And we are all good law abiding citizens. We are people that don't use our guns to harm others. We use them for hunting and for sport such as target practice. If you want to associate all gun owners in America as not having common sense and being criminals. Then I'm going to associate all Australians as being pansies that bow down to whoever tells them to do something.
-
@eleven, I suppose the point is that when the government and people like you say they should take away the guns. The law abiding citizens. The ones who don't do bad things. Take it personally and see it as people like you are blaming them for the dumbasses that did bad things. It's like you're using guilt by association. It's sort of like being in a store shopping in the food section. And somebody on the complete opposite side of the store robbing the store. But you were being blamed for it as an accomplice even though you were no where's near them. And had nothing to do with it. That's what it's like when people say the government should take guns away from law-abiding citizens.
-
@Seohn, again I bring up that gun routine from Jefferies it doesn't matter what you or your family is like we have to walk as slow as the slowest people to keep society going and sorry but crazy people aren't going out to a public area and trying to mass murder with spoons you can blame the tool literally created to kill as well as the crazy people both are big issues and to further retort guns are several times more expensive on the black market the criminals are just gonna get them anyway is quite possibly the weakest and most hilarious argument people like you have so cops shouldn't try to stop crime because they're just gonna do it anyway is what you said so no more cops either take a look at Jim's gun control jokes and he'll address anything else you might want to throw at me also guns are no more a sport than archery also sports are a waste of time
-
@Seohn, 1. How often do you hear trucks just running into crowds to kill people. 2. Trucks were not made to have the sole purpose of ending a life of a living thing, a gun was 3. "I call it bowing down to the government" This makes me think you don't know what a government is supposed to do, you know defending the citizens, and making laws to make it harder for criminals to commit crimes. 4. You say criminals are going to not follow the law regardless, so why have laws in the first place? Is it so people who do follow the law don't get mistaken for a criminal? Is it so we can point a finger to say "there, that is the bad guy who is causing all of this misery!", or is it just so it is harder to commit crimes and make it so much trouble to get the resources to commit a certain crime that outways any possible gain that comes from it? Ps. your right criminals don't follow laws that don't allow them do what they want, you know what I say they aren't doing? Bowing to the government
How is it that Australia has stricter gun laws than the US? You guys have fucκin monsters.
