Bollocks! The point of USC2A was spelled out clearly by the Founding Fathers. To empower the governed against tyranny. Not “hunting,” not “sport,” and not even “self defense”— those were assumed. It was to safeguard against tyranny. No specific method, weapon, or technology was ever enumerated by purpose and not accident. “The right ... to keep and bear ***ARMS*** shall NOT be infringed.” It does not say “muskets,” “blunderbusses,” or “flintlocks,” because the point was to satisfy the necessity of a “FREE State” regardless the epoch or technological plateau. Americans may carry lasers or lightsabers if such technology exists and means allow. Explosives/WMDs/bio/poison were/are separate for the only reason that they are not personal ARMS. These, now as then (with obvious distinction), fall under different classifications. The one and only time a force commanded Americans to disarm they were rightly shot. The 2A does NOT grant Americans the right to defend themselves, it recognises it. on Kaboom (Upvotes: 100)
