While it isn't 100% the same, Canada is often considered to have democratic socialism, when in fact we are more of a social democracy. I assume that is what she means here on Absolutely S a v a g e (Upvotes: 8)
@Oujosh29, at the time canada was still a british colony, so we were considered english. The conflict was in between england and the states, but it was easier to fight the english by hurting their colony than by actually floating across the ocean. It was a proxy war fought through us. The english did technically burn down the white house, but they were from the true north strong and free on Funny Pics (Upvotes: 7)
@Yourself, high off shrooms isn't too far off of reality though. 100% correct that most viking troops were actually well armored with chainmail and shields. Berserkers and Ulfehdnar were shock troops. They were guards and a small percentage of whatever warband they were a part of. The Ulfehdnar specifically were described that "neither fire nor iron could pierce their hide". It is thought that they would drink beer and rotting berries, and work themselves up in a group to enter a frenzy like state. They wore animal skins to try and gain the ferocity of beasts on Skins (Upvotes: 5)
@The Landshark , yeah, I can back that up as a Canadian myself. Aside from the whole "in all our sons command" debacle, we don't really have any issues like that. As long as you're not directly attacking people in an extremely problematic way, you can say whatever you want. on Happy Holidays everyone! (Upvotes: 5)
