@melvina, you're not horrible, laughter is a defense mechanism. You either laugh or drown your kids in a bathtub on Funny Pics (Upvotes: 30)
100-200 years ago, humanity had nutrient deficiencies resulting in narrower pelvic openings. At the same time, the very ancient practice of midwifery was overtaken by doctors with very little understanding of the birthing process. These two factors combined resulted in a spike in fetal and maternal mortality rates in the western world. These same views are leading to over a third of women in the US giving birth by c section, many having been lead to believe by medical necessity. More still are subjected to labor augmentation through membrane sweeps, rupture of waters, Petocin, and prostaglandins resulting in complications, emotional trauma, and fetal distress. We are still in dark times regarding womens health, with no example more Stirling than the abuses of women at the hands of the United State's medical system in childbirth. on Funny Pics (Upvotes: 34)
@Qu9ke, there are answers to everything. You just need to look hard enough. I don't believe in a higher power or a hereafter. I have a family history of brilliant minds with severe mental issues like bipolar, schizophrenia, and major depressive disorder. I had a bad bout of depression in my teens and even attempted to take my own life, failing because of an improper knot in the ligature. I vowed to find answers after that. I refuse to accept that I have no control. I can always choose to exit, so I may as well enjoy as much as I can. Sorry if it sounds bleak but I think it's a perspective and frame of mind you can relate to in your current mindset. on Funny Pics (Upvotes: 7)
@Unownsoldier385, there's a big shift to. Our first was a home waterbirth with a midwife team. We're expecting our second any day in the same fashion. It is documented as safe, if not safer, than hospital births. A lot of you here are young, and I really encourage you all when you're ready to have children to do your research for yourselves. @SchroedingerPussPuss, I feel like this enlightening fact could have been delivered in a less enormously sh¡tty way. on Legend of Korra, Mulan crossover (Upvotes: 6)
