James M Barrie was 6 years old when he was out ice-skating with his older brother Davey, 2 days before Davey's 14th birthday. Davey tried to do a little trick, but broke theough the ice. He couldn't find the hole he fell through, and the young James wasn't strong enough to break the ice. Davey died, and his mother was devastated. She blamed James for the rest of his life and completely disowned him. Years later in adulthood, finally returning to his home in Kierrimiere (can't remember how to spell it) he was recollecting to the grave of his older brother, and came upon the realization that Davey won't ever grow up.
