@PyroCMXXVI, so I did some research and I'm answering my own questions. 1. The stores were located in South Africa. 2. The main office for H&M that houses marketing is in Stockholm, Sweden. So, if I were to take a wild guess at what happened, I would say a bunch of whiter than Christmas Sweeds came up with a harmless children's shirt that referred to children as monkeys (as my parents often did). They then sent the shirt out to be sold in a place where the population is 75% Black African so naturally they had a Black African BOY model the shirt (young boys being the target demographic for the shirt). People assumed racism where none was intended, trashed a bunch of stores and put dozens of locals out of a job while the company loses money not because of the stores but because of all the diversity, sensitivity, recompensery bull cr@p that they are going to have to pay out the nose for in an attempt to make people feel better and forgive them for an honest mistake. on Ironic (Upvotes: 129)

I collected swords since I was 12 because i loved the renaissance festivals and the midevil era in general. Skip to HS, sophomore year, we go over the renaissance in history and I ask the teacher if I can give a presentation. The next week I brought in a suitcase filled with over a dozen swords and had a 1 hour speach that told everyone the history, geography, cultural significance, and recorded uses for each sword. It was under the supervision of the HS principal who liked it so much he let me teach it again the following two years I was in HS. on swords (Upvotes: 33)
