@Honaw Fierceclaw, it's actually not that hard. I trained my betta to recognize colours. I put a green lego and a red lego in his tank, and he needs to touch the green one in order to get food. After a couple weeks, he guessed correctly on the first try almost every time, and now he makes a beeline straight for the green block the second both of them touch the water, and he ignores pretty much anything red. White is still neutral, so I gave him a ping pong ball to push around for fun, which he often does. It actually improves your fish's health a lot to give them a stimulating environment, even if that just means putting lots of plants and hides in their tanks, but more interactive things like ping pong balls are great too, especially for smaller tanks like the ones that bettas like. Sorry for the long post, I just really like bettas and no one seems to take them seriously enough. on Good fish (Upvotes: 70)
This may seem pretty cruel (which it probably is, I'd be scared shjtless if this happened), but in their defence, sitting on your ass for eight hours a day, likely in the sweltering summer heat, operating a ride with a couple of buttons, pretending to be happy while you watch countless other people having fun has got to be one of the most boring jobs on the planet. They deserve some entertainment once in a while. on Fun day at the Fair (Upvotes: 48)

Actually a fun fact about this place, it actually has some history behind it. Not a lot, mind you, it's only about a hundred years old. Basically, at the turn of the 20th century, a lot of tiny villages were popping up all over the midwest, but most of them got absorbed into others as they expanded or were simply abandoned. Neither of those things ever happened to Monowi for whatever reason. The town's name actually means "flower" in one of the Native American languages, the fact that the only town in America with a single resident also has "mono" in the name is a complete coincidence. Its population peaked around 120 in the 30's, and has been steadily decreasing ever since, until the second-to-last inhabitant (this woman's husband) died in 2004. Now she lives alone, and you know the rest. So yeah. The more you know! on Funny Pics (Upvotes: 32)
