The name of his cat came with the era he grew up in, it might not even have been named by him... it was the family pet when he was growing up. Was he racist, of course he was, most folks then were to some degree as it was so institutional. Is it observable in his work? Most definitely. Did his personal take on race lead him to name or favor more his childhood pet... probably not as much as you'd think, or like to think, or at all. It'd be easy to just connect the two to make him out to be some big, almost cartoony, level racist. More likely he was just as racist as most folks back then. on Lovecraft was a bad guy besides his writing (Upvotes: 33)

I believe in people's ability to have opinions, feelings and beliefs. I will defend that right and I will defend their right to pursue happiness. We all deserve happiness.
